Default Interstate Transport Companies

Anyone got any favourites when it comes to getting their pride and joy around.

I've just had a quote for $1600 Sydney-Perth that seemed a bit steep.
The other problem is they state it MUST have a working foot and hand brake. I under stand why, but what if it doesn't.

Hi jcraigau

I purchased my cobra from Perth and had it transported to Melbourne

- Depot drop off and pick up each end.

I used Jayde Transport

http://www.jayde.com.au/index.html

They were very helpful - my car had no brakes and it was not put on a car carrier but on a flatbed. Cost was $715 ($650 + GST) - c.2004

My memory is a bit vague here but I think that West-East is cheaper because more is imported to WA than exported (minerals notwithstanding).

Good luck with your search

LoBelly

LoBelly

That price is excellent.

I transported the Cobra to Perth via rail and CEVA transport. It was damaged and treated with little care. Cost for both trips over $2400 I recall...

Albanycobra and others who were involved may chime in here to tell you about the condition of the Cobra on arrival..

The GT40 was damaged and was strapped down with little care resulting in damaged suspension etc.

I would push it over there rather than use rail and CEVA Transport Logistics again..

Cheers

Bernie

Your right LoBelly, West-East is always cheaper, most of it is backhaul.

When I moved to Sydney in 2003, FCL looked after me with Perth Depot in Welshpool to Sydney Depot in Sydenham in a closed container it was $500.

You drive your own car into the container, they have special wood chucks to stop the car moving around back-front and left-right. You can store as much in the car as you want, you get out and they lock the container and give you the key.

At the other end you get your container down and unlock it yourself, jump in the car and drive it away. Perfect service. Shame they got bought by Linfox and they canned the auto service...

I'll check out Jayde and let you all know.

Jayde only do cars from Melbourne to Perth, not Sydney.

So my other option is to get it to Melbourne first and then on to Perth.

Just weighing up the cost options...

Hi Guys,

I've also been looking at possible transportation options Perth to Melbourne and back again as I've been looking into the feasibility of taking my Cobra to the Nationals this year...

A very good friend and I went the the Nationals last year for the 1st time and had an absolute ball and it would be fantastic to take my own car along this year!

I called Jayde and they will only take cars Perth to Melb and not back (Melb to Perth) as they are not a car carrying business, just a freight company that wants to take advantage of going back East with light loads...

They quoted about $700 inc GST for a car Per - Melb in a curtain sided truck/rail container.

From my perspective, if I'm going to send my car across, I'll only do it with specialist car carrier as the risk of damage to my car is just not worth it!

Regards....Paul

Default Don't scrimp.

I used a specialist car carrier to transport Karen’s mustang from Melbourne Sydney, the cost was huge about $1200.00.

But the one truck picked it up and then delivered it to our door.

The mustang was in good company with a Ferrari and Porsche in the front.

Piece of mind I guess.

Phil

Find a freight forwarder

Put it in a Container
Ship it to Perth
you'll be surprised

There are not many out there that will pick up a car that rolls without brakes.

I have plenty of quotes for getting a running car over, but as soon as you say it's a roller that cuts out over half of them, and then you tell them it has no brakes they hang up!

Worst case scenario - ROAD TRIP !!!!!!

If your work is flexible, go the road trip.

I am doing the road trip this weekend to pick up my body and chassis. Im hiring a car trailer for $200 for 2 days and driving to melbourne. I estimate $200 in fuel plus a nights accom $100. Thats $400 cheaper than the cheapest quote i could get!

Actually, i am driving from Sydney to melbourne with an empty trailer leaving Friday arvo to pick up my car. Maybe i can help you get to Jayde?

Hey Zedn, sounds interesting...

Only problem with Jayde is they only do Perth-Melbourne, not Melbourne-Perth.
I'll have to investigate my options for Melbourne. I'd need somewhere to store it and then might have the same problems getting it from Melbourne to Perth without brakes, motor etc.

I'll start ringing around the Melbourne crows to see if my options are any better...

It's an 80% complete homebush Cobra kit. Painted with working steering, suspension, wheels, diff and gearbox. It's missing engine and brakes.

Currently it is sitting in a shed in Kyle Bay, awaiting it's trip west...
