Door Sill (inner) Protectors
For those interested in protecting the edge of your inner door sill - I seem to always kick some part of it on the way to the seat - here is a pic of a product that can be used. It is trimmable and very durable and comes in various colours.

so much for spartan... what next dimming interior lighting??
Not saying I don't like it but we're cloning closer to production cars every day!
Keep the tips coming.

Geez! I was going for the spartan look with as little as possible bling: This is a practical concession I feel.

Nice touch Merv.
Can't be too careful with protection.

I guess as well as functionality and the need to have our cars registered as 2009 (and so on) vehicles mean that there will be demands on our builds that are not in keeping with the 'spartan' originals. Altho' this one seems to have a radio!

I can show you the dimming interior lighting.
Those are great looking and really finishes off the door area.
I just made the ones for my car. I used pickup truck bed trim and cut it to fit and mildly sanded the edges.
I was pretty happy with what I ended up with until I saw yours.
Very nice!

Hardening up!??!
Well as a concession to my poor old eyes and assuming I'll be doing some night driving I'd fitted an MG map reading light onto the dash. It's a pull switch operation but also have trigger switches on the doors (really soft) but it's there to help find things in the dark.
Need glasses these days to read the Melways and trying to do that in a dark cobra cockpit would be impossible. So it doesn't dim but like the sill covers is functional.
Cheers

Nothing wrong with interior lights.
I had them on the bumblebee, and a simple turn of the headlight knob, and I had both foot wells lit up like a christmas tree.
Best thing I ever did.
The attached photo shows Gary Skaines doing some sort of repair on Gary Walther's DRB race Cobra at Queensland Raceway, but I've been in exactly the same position trying to re-connect a clutch cable on my Cobra....in the dark...and no room for torches etc.
[IMG] [/IMG]
The interior lights were very welcome in those moments.
I also remember spending about two hours in the same position....maybe fixing the same bloody clutch cable problem ( The Bumblebee had a VERY heavy clutch fitted ), in the middle of Mooloolaba with a crowd standing around laughing at my position, and dikheds asking..." Hey Mate....Is that a real one ??"
Back to the doorsills.....
I Had an idea of using brushed stainless for something similar on the new Cobra.
The "Daisy" ....SC540 ? had something similar, and I thought it looked cool.
[IMG] [/IMG]
We'll see when it gets to that point....might look crap!
Cheers,
Warren.

Those look nice Warren. I actually bought some ally strip like that and was thinking about getting them etched with the "Cobra" but but then these tougher ones turned up.... They are easily removeable though ...
I have fitted footwell light as well - very discrete but damn useful!
Re the, "Is that a real one?" question - I now always say "yes" and leave it at that.

Warren can comment maybe Kevin, but there are metal etchers/engravers near me here. A functional point however, that the protector needs to roll over the edge of the panel as that is the section that gets most damage IMO.

Stainless Scuff Plates with Aluminum inner edging. (Excuse the keys, only realised it after taking the pic and did not have time to photoshop it out).

Plenty of metal etchers/engravers about......
This is actually a shot from a series of photos I have of the Project Daisy Concept Cobra...
I just thought it looked kinda cool, and was going to try to get something like it done, on my new Cobra under construction at the moment.
We'll see......
The "Normal" Cobra has a fairly curved door way, compared to that concept car...so it might look like $hit when I try it.
Won't know until I do it.
Cheers,
Warren.
