Default Tremec plugs

Heh Fellas

I'm having no luck finding connecting plugs to suit my T56 gearbox, out of an XR8 I think. Specifically there's 3, one each for reverse light, reverse solenoid lockout and speedo connection.

Ive tried an allweather plug that looked the goods, it fits the female housing but the internal contacts are wrong.

Any hints would be great........I've tried Mal Woods and a couple of places in the US. Ford will only sell me the whole loom with plugs attached

Thanks

Greg

Go to the wrecking yard and cut the plugs out of a ford harness.

Bit of a vague generalisation there sideshow. Its a bit like me saying all auto electricians are illiterate smartarses

I don’t think us "cobra people" would be alone in not wanting to pay 30 bucks for half a cent worth of plastic

hehehhe
well im not an auto electrician im a mechanic
but i am a smart ass

and what do u get for under 20 bucks these days

if i do have the plugs seals and terminals all new
it would cost me bout 20 bucks each with freight

anyway i was only trying to help
i guess i should stop helping and putting money towards this site if people complain about prices

if you can buy the plug brand new for a cheaper price ill match it
if not what can i say

and u tenrocca should know how much parts cost
werent us elling air flow meters for the ls2s and l98s and ls3s for 100 bucks
when they only cost u 30 bucks
and air flow meter plugs for 25 bucks when they only cost 10 bucks

u charged that much so u can put money back into yr cobra thats not such a big deal

i have a 500000 mortgage and 2 kids to pay for so atleast i have a better excuse
heheheheheheheheh

anyway i have a business to run just like al lthe other cobra shops so take it or leave it

Sideshow - if you stayed away from this site your business would be certain to improve. You come across as a complete d**khead on the forum. I know you are not, and in real life are a decent bloke and do good work. Your partner who is a good bloke and can also articulate himself well on the forum should do all the talking for you. Go and look after the wife and kids and stay off here as it surely does you more harm then good.

I wasnt saying you were ripping anyone off, I was just saying 30 bucks is a lot of money for a tiny piece of plastic and it wouldnt be just cobra people who would think so.

Yes I used to sell a few bits and pieces to help fund my own cobra build. If I found a good deal on something I would buy a bunch to make the shipping worthwhile. How the f**k would you know what I paid for any of them, and anything I sold was half the local price anyway. As you know I sold your partner an ecu and swapped it for him no probs when YOUR software couldnt read it despite it being fine (your software cant read a blank ecu unlike efilive). Given that you have a bit of a hide making any comment about me on this forum.

Seriously, do yourself a favour and just let your mate talk on the forum for you before the little business you get off here fades away to nothing.

Default Try this place

I had the same issue with my TKO 600 and couldn't find the matching pigtails anywhere in Australia that I could think to look.

http://www.transmissioncenter.net/sp...n_______va.htm

This place had all the sensors and pigtails, and from memory, the airbag cost about $20-00 from the USA.

Regards

Tenrocca, couldn't agree more on my surprise at sideshows' plug prices.
I've got no idea what he pays for the tiny bits of plastic, but I get sick of ripoff prices as soon as you mention COBRA.......he's not the only guilty party.
He is regularly helpful though, unfortunately very short of tack and net etiquette.
I've rang Mal Woods on two occasions and I strike this fella who insists on telling me that as they didn't do the T56 to Windsor conversion for my engine that the whole thing will **** itself soon enough....we'll see!
Wreckers wont do the plugs separately as they sell the box and loom together for conversions.
I'll keep trying the US.
Thanks

im sory my net ettique has gone down hill over past year
everyone wants info fo free and im willing to help a certain amount but if i loose money from it then i stop
how can u say its a bit of plastic
some one said to get them from usa
well they are worth 20 bucks usa on some sites
so i say go buy them from there and if im twice the price as what u pay landed here in australai after all the costs involved i will give u 100 bucks

yr cobra is just a piece of fiberglass why does it cost so much
we can all say the same thing

price is determined by how much of the product is out there
you bag out my price yet u cannot find any price to show for it
you can only should that u need to buy a complete loom from ford which is in the hundreds of dollars

anyway this is not yr problem
it is mine
i help on forums and then people take take take and never give back
then all of a sudden someone bags our my price
when overall for what i charge for everything i do to do with wiring i consider myself average price

i supported the nationals a year ago until afew people on here got abit rude and stuff
and i supported this forum until this

so i would not worry any more

i now realise that all the guys who have workshops stay right away from forums because
its where people try to get help and info for doing things themselves and always want to buy things 2nd hand or on the cheap

so i have decided to stay away from all forums and not help anyone any more
i will just say bring car into my shop and i will fix it
and going out to fix cobras will be on the end of my list since ive been tainted as a rip off

bye

I looked for months to find someone that sold the connectors for my T56. The only people that do are Delphi and GM! The reverse lockout connector was $19us the VSS was $18us the reverse switch connector was $32us and trans temp connector is the same as reverse lockout, all genuin GM parts, come pigtailed and with crimps.
Holden and Ford will not sell the connectors for love nor money so its one of the things that you will have to pay for, it aint a cobra thing either!
I ended up getting the reverse lockout connector for Mal Wood as he couldnt get them either!! And he is the Tremec dealer!!!!
Sideshow has a decent price for them at 20 odd A$!!!!!

I had Sideshow come out and wire up my engine and ecu to get car to crank over stage and i thought he was not only reasonably priced but cheap for what he done for me , it was something i could never have done nor would i have attempted it,
I didnt want to take it to a shop because of the fact of the high prices they would charged because of what it was, plus the extra expense of tow fees.

Sideshow , take no notice of these guys ,let them waste their time chasing down plugs
and other bits and pieces so they can save a few lousy dollars.

You can still come and finalize my wiring, will give you a call when closer to date.

Cheers Darrell

Jeeeeeesuz do you blokes get into Sideshow enough ???

"Rip off "
"Guilty Party"

Byroncobra.....It seems to me if you want the bloody part ...give the man his $20-00 or $30-00 and move on.

If not...go to someone else and get it.........

Doesn't sound to me like Sideshow gives a rats if you don't want the bloody thing.

All I know...is that you don't get much for $30-00 when it comes to any parts for cars/Cobras......and all this "bleating" back and forwards on the forum....whilst temporarily amusing...starts to sound like a chick fight after a while.

Never seen so much time dedicated to not spending the price of a few beers.

My two cents worth.

(This should be fun ! )

Lots of peace love and mung beans to all ..... from Sunny Queensland .

Sideshow, You and I have had words in the past, It was happily all sorted out as my concern was a lack of support from you to this site, you did correct this and I thank you for it.
It is a sad fact that some people will call prices expensive and then when they try to find cheaper they realise that they can not find it.
I have purchased connectors from you in the past for both myself and for friends race cars, I only hope that once people realise that your prices on parts are in line with most sellers that any ill feelings can be overcome.

You do come across a bit abrupt at times on the forum, but I think I can be the same at times, it is good to stop and read your post before hitting the Post button.

I'm with you Wazza, Sideshow wired my car 5 years ago and have had not one single problem. The guy is just trying to help and continuely gets blasted by a few that have a problem with so called etiquette.WTF. If you haven't done your homework on how much these things cost to build, don't do it!
Cheers

Also fully agree - Jim has given me a lot of help along the way - without charge. I would hate to lose a valued contributor. Unfortunately, it usually those who give most of their time who are most offended when their efforts are criticised or misinterpreted.

Jim was very easy to deal with when trying to coordinate a Cobra build from halfway around the world. He must be a night owl as I often received email answers in real time despite the 7 hour time difference.

Mal Wood is another one that is up late sending email responses, no complaints with his service either.

Cheers

You may not be writing Jim, but you can still read. Writing on forums such as this is so impersonal and the 'persona' that we acquire from readers is often completely unlike our reality. Email and sms equivalents refer to 'flaming' where disputes or misunderstandings arise, when in face-to-face situations they would not happen. Anyway, I guess you can read that your many contributions, often behind the scenes, are appreciated.
