Hey Guys,

Just joined tonight, as I am about to order my Cobra hopefully this week. Have already purchased the engine [ L76 ] at what I thought was a good price for a crate job & am now looking for a Tremec 6spd at the right price. If anyone knows where to buy at a good price pl's let me know. I would consider both 2nd hand or new depending on price.I live in Narre Warren North thats in Melb' for you interstaters. I appreciate any help on this matter.

Cheers
Daz

G'day Daz and welcome. Have you tried Holmart? I got mine from Holden in Warrigul but it was the last surplus T56 they had at the time. Which clutch are you planning to use?

Welcome Daz

Yes what kit have you bought?

You're close to the Vic club Vice Pres Jason Millington and another cobra owner Cameron both Berwick way or thereabouts.

Contact with either will get you an opportunity to look close at a couple of cars and between asking questions on the forum and looking at car builds you'll get a lot of questions answered. And you will have a lot to ask no doubt.

Cheers

Daz, my Harrison has been at Kenmer the last 6 months for various fabrication jobs and I've spent many Saturdays there helping out (or just observing). Marty's Cobra kit is really well thought out, solidly built and you have plenty of options with drive train, diff ratios, etc. He's a straight shooter, no BS and a good problem solver which helps when you want to do something a little different with the design. Hope I haven't oversold you there Marty!

Ben (another forum member but I've forgotten his nickname) recently took his 6.0L Kenmer cobra home and I got to see it at various stages of the build. His chassis was colour coded the same as the body and looked sensational even without the body. Perhaps Marty can put you in touch with him and you can get a first hand opinion.

Hey Sambo,
Yeh I saw Ben's car last Friday looks great, & when he fired it up it was music to my ears. Yours must be up on the hoist ? I guess i will get to meet you soon down at Marty's.

Mine came home a few weeks ago Daz. But I'll be back there soon enough, if only to raid his beer fridge and talk sh1t with the regular drop-ins.

If you've seen/heard Ben's car then I suggest you've got all you need to make a decision. Those lightweight, compact, affordable Chevrolet engines are the business. Ford was Shelby's second choice, remember that!

Ford WAS Shelby's choice. One can't rewrite history or re-make his decision .... It was fate!
