Whos Hot for the nats this year.
I thought i would start a bit of rivalry before the games begin.
I know from Qld we have Pete chunky Hancock is on a high at the moment really kicking butt . Also Ash and Wayne are going well. The dark horse from Qld is an old player with a robnell rocket ship.
As always there is a big crowd heading south from Qld .
So who is gunning from the south????
Who has made some significant improvements in lap times this year?? I guess the Sydney and Act guys have the advantage of being able to practice at wakefield.
looking forward to the trip catch you all there.

You guys have no chance this year
We've got track days with instructors happening,
everyone is out there practising, new cars big engines, you know
those stock ones with all the horsepower.
No chance........... BRING IT ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys up there are certainly getting those Cobras flying around the track!
Unfortunately there does not seem to be many guys getting to the track very often down here, so we have a fair bit of catching up to do.
Hopefully there is someone down here that will give you guys a hard time.

I believe there is a ballistic missille being built down here and should be ready by the Nats that will blow that yellow DRB and the Venom and Spook fat assed racer off the track. Be Afraid, VERY AFRAID BOYS.
Cheers

Good to see.
Some real banter please do tell who what is going to blow us all away??
I hope its a cobra.
Because if it ain't it don't count.
I should know Because no one cares how fast the celica was but they do take notice if a cobra is fast.
that's why its called the cobra nationals.
No spook we are not upgrading the turbo on the threat of a new fast car. unless your paying for it.lol.
I really think the cobras are at a stage now that suspension development is more important than horse power.

Going to the nats
If all goes well I'll be taking old 66 to the nats this year after being a spectator last year (no licence)
Cheers,

There will be a NSW car debuting this year that has had some big dollars spent on some serious engine mods (ls3) and chassis work by a local race shop. Was pulling 1:07's on its first outing at Wakefield.

Thought it was a reasonable effort for a first outing on street tyres. Cant wait to see your 1:02 spook.

1.02
No no.... not me on a 1.02! QLDer Gary Walther in his yellow DRB... I'm a 1.32 ish hehehehehe. You see my race "buddy" Mr Venom is knobbling me all the time... Don't tell him I said that... I know he is..I just can't work out how.... He keeps telling me to "warm the tyres" for some reason!
1.07 on street tyres! Hmmmm! Now that's more interesting... Knowone said that it was on streeters!
Tell us more about this street tyred 1.07 weapon?
It's not a competition anyway.... is it? Its all about personal enjoyment...and going quicker than the year before..... except we all want to beat Wazza Boylan!!! Because we just love beating him.... Although I haven't yet we love trying!!

Someone was telling me about this car. Ex Winston cup NASCAR 358 Windsor under the hood. Dry sump tank in the boot and spins to 9K. An older carburetor car that's been rebuilt I believe. Not sure what suspension and brakes its running.
Cheers

Rocket ship
I have seen the car run at a private track day about a month ago, very impressive.
I think Andrew is pulling your leg a bit, it was running r spec tires. It will run slicks at the nationals.
When the car is sorted I know that the goal is a sub one minute lap.
I don't think money is a problem and I know there are some good heads working on it.
I am sure you guys have worked out who it is, no it is not me.
Phil

Must be another one Mike - the one I was talking to was definately a chevmobile. I dont know much more about the car except what I have heard from one of the instructors down there (at Wakefield). Finally might be able to shake these canetoads up a bit this year by the looks of things.

My mistake Andrew. For some reason I thought it was a Ford. I just rang the guy that was telling me about it and he confirmed it was a Chev. It's the older gen SB-2 based motor. I think much the same blocks the run in the V8 SuperCars but bored and stroked for the larger displacement limits in NASCAR. The V8 Supercar guys get a lot of their tech from the NASCAR engine builders.

The Stig
Only time will tell and the fastest time tells all.
Nothing like competing against the clock it does not show bias or opinion only the fact of time.
This year i am letting luke (aka spook) take the lead as fast driver i just want to have fun.

Yeah I agree Scotty! But actually this year I was going to let you do all the racing and I was just going to have fun!
(No interteam competition here!)
