Re-Positioning the handbrake in an RMC.
Unfortunately, I have had to do this as the floor pans on an RMC are far narrower than on most other Cobra kits.
This is where I originally had the handbrake mounted, but when I tried to put the MX5 seats into the car, the seat on the driver's side wouldn't fit because of the handbrake mechanism. This really peeved me off as I had coloured the handbrake handle in walnut to match the rest of the wood grain in the cockpit. I looked at obtaining thinner seats, but finally settled on the plan to purchase a different type of handbrake and mount it on top of the transmission tunnel, behind the gear selector.
This is the new hand brake positioned on the transmission tunnel. Note that it has been recessed down into the tunnel and will be incorporated into the new consul which is currently being built.
This photo shows the two mounting brackets from underneath and also the extension which was welded to the new handbrake assembly to allow for more efficient travel.
