Hi Dave,
You thinking of bringing The Beast this year.
I am going to come as Competitor this time.
Car's getting painted at the moment so no Nationals for me (this year that is).

Gregg, I am just trying to organise myself,
I am sure most people are getting sick of my rego progress, and as helpfull as Enklemanns are being in trying to get my car through rego, I feel they are a little sceptical in using a 3rd party up here in Alice Springs (they still have not said no to the option).
I am getting involved in the Chrysler car scene and there is a very major show weekend on in Albury on the 13th and 14th of March.
I am now thinking of taking 3 weeks or more off work and towing the Cobra to Enklemann's, get them to inspect for rego around the 11th March, store the Cobra at Mum's and head up to Albury for the Chrysler car show.
Here is the car I will use for towing and cruising at the show.
These pics are from the day I bought it home, it was my wife's Uncles car and was originally converted into a hearse.
I am fixing a few of the dents and scrapes and also just this morning bought a Celica 5 spd conversion kit for it, and have a local guy who is willing to sell me a disk brake front end for it.
It is a genuine 36000 mile car.
So I can get the Cobra inspected (in rego trim) then go to Chrysler show and then get the Cobra ready for ShelbyFest the following week.
There is also some Valiant Charger stuff in Melbourne I need to pick up (bulky interior trim stuff)

Dave
If you go to that extreme length of bring the car to Enkelmans I can provide whatever support you need in talking and liasing with Bernie.
He did my car and I live less than 10 minutes from their factory.
My office phone is 03 9768 5444 if you want to catch up on this.
Cheers
Steve

Slowy,
Thanks very much for the offer.
Aussie Mike has also offered assistance.
What a great community the Cobra world is.

Boxhead, will you be at Shelby Fest only if your cars registered or will you go regardless? Are you planning on going to the Nationals?
Gregg, what colour have you decided for the Cobra? Are there any updated pics of your progress you could show us?
Regards.

I think I saw your wagon on 'bush mechanics' Dave, was it the one they used a tree branch to replace a front wheel?

Hi Mando,
I am going for a VE Commodore Colour called Voodoo Blue with White Stripes.
One of the guys on the forum in Benalla who is building a DRB540 has painted his car this colour.
Below is a photo just before I ripped all the bits off - still need to get the roll bar polished.

Mando, I will definatly not be at the Nationals this year.
I really want to be at ShelbyFest, I am waiting on a guy I am trying to buy a trailer off, but if this falls through I think I can still get hold of one to borrow.
I am also waiting on some paperwork to be signed before the Valiant Wagon can be registered in my name.
Then I will take 3 weeks or more off work and take th ecar to the engineers for rego, and that will give me time to remove rego bits before turning up at Winton.
Gav, There are not enough dents or spear holes in my Wagon for it to be the bush mechanic car.
I will throw sticks at ya.

There is plenty of room at my Geelong garage if you need to store the Cobra.

Thanks for the offer Bernie, I have had plenty of offers from CC so thanks to all.
I also have family and friends in Melbourne so all should be ok.
Plan is to tow it down in rego trim, get it inspected, then visit Aussie Mike in his new garage and put it back into race trim, then I will take it to Mum's place and store until race weekend.

No problem. The room is there - hoist etc - if needed.
Aussie Mikes sounds the go though..
