mounting headlights
I have searched CC and the internet and can not figure out how to mount the headlights and beauty rings. The beauty ring has no clips on it, and I have the hole at about 6 o'clock that almost lines up with a threaded hole in the bucket.
I have a ziplock bag labeled "headlight ring" that has one clip with 2 prongs and a piece of spring steel.
Thanks for any help, Jim

played with it more and now I think I figured it out. the lip of the trim ring hooks over two tabs on the headlight bucket. I just need to find a screw for the bottom that locks it in.

That is correct Jim. -- take a little fiddling , but it works.
Do you have the gaskets behind the buckets?

I do not have any gaskets. I was trying to decide if I need to tracksome down. Reading here on Club Cobra it sounds like there are some for and against.
Have you seen any pictures showing the difference?
Do you have them
Thanks, Jim

I tried and tried to get the beauty ring on the bucket last night but no luck. i was prying with screw drivers and everything. I was wondering if a gasket behind the bucket is needed to give extra clearance for the beauty ring to slide in more?
Any tips or tricks you can share?
thanks in advance, Jim

ok, another couples hours spent and still not beauty ring on the headlight. I tried bending in the sides of the bucket itself hoping it would give enough clearance to get the ring over. I have had several screw drivers ate a time stuck in there prying away. I can barely get them on with the buck off the car.
So if there are no other hints, are there some other brand or style of headlight setup? I thought I had seen some HID ones. Anything to get around this madness!!!!
Thanks, Jim

I took a dremel tool and ground the tabs down to allow the trim ring to fit. May be the wrong way to do it but it works!

Thats exactly what I had to do, grind the tabs down a little bit at a time until the trim ring just slid over them. Worked good for me.

a little different than what i have. if that is the norm for the B&B then i guess you'll have to grind a little.
here's a pic of mine, i seem to have two rings, one for holding the lamp, the other for a trim ring....

FWB, that looks like mine except the bucket is metal.
I ground them down last night, but still tight. I am thinking about getting a rubber gasket for behind the bucket to give the ring more room to slide into. Does anyone know what apllication I would ask for at a local parts place
Thanks, Jim

You will have a hard time finding them locally. I have seen them on line in the past but don't remember where. You may end up fabricating your own. I tried that but I didn't like the look. It gave me a gap that was not uniform between the ring and the body. One word of advice is to make all of the modifications before it goes to paint because I had to get fairly rouph with mine before I worked it out.

I ended up getting thick nylon washers between the bucket and body. That and grinding gave enough room to get them snapped on. I do not know if I will ever be able to get them back off.
Thanks to all, Jim

well I was hoping I would never have to deal with these again, but here I am with on smashed while on the car (do not want to talk about it right now)
Does anyone have one B&B headlight beauty ring to sell?
If not, has anyone used or know if the Finishline headlight beauty rings will work on the B&B buckets?
Thanks, Jim

If they aren't, they are great about taking it back if it is different. I have sent a number of things back and they never gave me a hard time, instead they helped me in every way.

Get a rubber hammer. Seriously, it will fit if you persuade it a bit.

Any chance someone out there has one of the original style trim rings they want to sell?
Thanks, Jim

I wish. It is actually because the car was started while in gear and ran into the garage on the left side. I have to say the B&B bodies are very strong. It only bent the trim ring and did not cause any body or paint damage
