Default Anyone running Goodyear Billboards with narrowed 9"?

Hey guys,
I should be picking up a B&B next week! It was built in 2008 and has a 9", so most likely it is already narrowed.

My question is for B&B owners, are any of you guys running the 26.5x8x15 and 26.5x10x15 goodyear billboards? I will be buying new 15" rims so I can adjuster the backspacing accordingly however they are BIG tires. It equates out to like a 280x50x15 in the front and 330x45x15 in the rear.

I don't want them to stick out of the wheel wells if possible. So..anyone running them? How is your clearence on front and rear? Any front suspension clearence issues?

Any advise or photos are appreciated!

Thanks

You need to page 496FE on this one. I'll send him an e-mail for you to alert him.

Actually, mine are 26 X 10.5 on 12 inch wide wheels. Now, my car is quite low in the back - I like the look. Unfortunately, the billboards rub on the frame rails as well as inside the wheel wells, especially with a passenger . I also had to fine-tune the panhard bar as well as make more room for the tire in the front of the rear wheel well by modifiying the inner panel.

I love the look of the B&B body - it actually looks more like an FIA 289 body with 427 doors. Problem is getting the tires inside the fenders. I have the Mustang II suspension with pin drives in front and I had to move the control arm pivots inboard about 2 inches. There is no way you can get the 26 X 8's under the front fenders without sticking out - they are just too wide. My entire suspension is highly modified. I ordered the frame with no suspension mounts and made my own suspension.

Sorry about all the bad news, but this is the time to address these challenges.

Brian

Thanks for the quick response and detailed info Brian.

Yeah I've been doing as much research as I can before I pick up the car and had the feeling the fronts would be an issue. Oh well, plenty of other options.

This is was the look I was going for

That one has the 427 body (Superformance?) with the extra lip in the back and the wider fenders in front.

The letters are a pain to keep up anyway. Also, when you are driving, the tires look like they have a huge whitewall. The plus side is that if you are going to have big HP. the billboards are real sticky in the summer if you warm them up. In the winter, they are bumpy for a while when cold and lose air slowly.

I have had two sets of the Billboards and yes they may rub on the inside. I cut a relief in my fiberglass so the inside would clear. Reglassed the inside wheel well and no one can tell any mods have been made. Others have made the same changes on other mfgs. This is a two hour job, maybe? I also run a set of 27"X10" Hoosier slicks on the back and 26" X 8" Hoosier slicks on the front when I am playing on the track. You can make anything work.

What, you don't like the look when I'm passing you on the 55 Freeway?
