Seat options
Hi all,
Where are you all purchasing the seats you are using with your B&B kits? I have looked at a few of your gallery pictures and really like what I see however the "cobra" seats I am finding online seem to be too tall in the back. The shortest ones I have found are 21" tall and will stick up past the rear deck area. Any help?
Thanks
Jason

Mine are from B&B.
http://lnfletcher.homeip.net/66Cobra/seats.htmlOne major problem with mine was the padding for the seat is way too little! All I had to do was have a local shop redo the bottoms and they are good to go!

Same here. The pad on the seat is too firm. I removed the cover and reshaped the foam. It's comfortable now, even on long trips.
Note: an LA Exotics is the same as a B&B.

A little trick we used to do with our Harley's; take your seat to a good upholsterer and have the foam replaced with Gelfoam.
I'm very pleased with the BDR seat as is, height, wrap around and support.

Thanks for the help and info guys but I'm not really concerned with how B&B's seats are made or what others have done to resolve them being too firm. I'm looking for other places to buy these types of small seats that will fit into our builds.

Found some seats that have headrests and will fit nice in the cobra. Check out Superformance seats for Australia, little pricey $1100 ea, but they look
good.

I tried two sets of seat but they did not firt well in the B&B. By the shells from Bryan and go to a good fabric shop. Comfort is all in the foam. Gel or ensolite ($$) base then layer softer foams. Fit well and very comfortable.

I don't know if this helps but i just ordered these for my car. At 299.00 each with free shipping i thought it was a good price and they will fit just right. After the research on here i could see the need for headrest. These headrest are removable so you can take them out when you get there. May not fit your application and i understand wanting them not to stick up above the rear deck but because of head to roll bar issues i chose to go with these. Just my 2 cents.

These are nice too.

I know nothing about B&B but wouldn't these seats work?
http://www.cobraseats.com/roadster_ss.htm
They look more like original seats and appear to be well made as far as I can tell.

Thats interesting, the link to cobraseats.com doesn't work. At least, it doesn't work for me.
I haven't had the passengers seat recovered in my car. I have one of Steve Sunshines replica comp seats for the driver.

It cost me $268.75 for both seat bottoms.
I have been on a number of 3+ hour runs without complaints from my wife, so I guess it is well worth it!
Now she just complains about her hair being blown around or the heat (it's been over 100 deg around here for the past weeks).

I'm having a hard time visualizing how a 21" seat sticks up over the deck? Unless you also have a head restraint. Check out FFR maybe, prices are for the pair.

Thanks, Larry. My wife doesn't complain, I do and I'm going to get that done. I haven't driven much in this hot weather. In the mid "70's I had a T top Corvette. I remember taking the tops out on a 100 degree plus day and quickly decided looking "cool" came with too big of a price tag! Went back home and put the tops on. I'm reminded about that on the 103 days we have had and didn't venture out. It's cooling off now so we will head up to the Lodge at Mount Magazine (thru Paris, AR) for lunch on a Saturday before too long. ( for you Arizona guys it is 103 degrees and 90% humidity)
