Default Dumb Question on Firewall

Has anyone had trouble with the alignment of the firewall and foot boxes as they were originally installed by B&B? I purchased a frame and innet panel kit from B&B, and I am having a devil of a time lining up the steering column. I have posted here and asked Daryl about this, and everyone seems to think that I should be able to make it work. Unless I had a very flexible steering shaft, I do not see any way to get my steering shaft to exit the housing and go straight to the pillow block without binding against the top of the foot box. I am using the standard steering setup from B&B.

My steering column is about 1/2 inch away from the foot box. Steering shaft is about 1 inch away. Jim

You need to make sure you drill the hole in the firewall right and the dash board panel needs to be lined up just right also. it will work keep working it.

I talked to Daryl, and he informed me that I need to bevel out the area at the top of the footbox. Looking at Jim's picture shows some duct tape in this area, so I am assuming that is what you needed to do as well. I am gonna give it a try.

I didn't bevel out anything on the foot box. What you saw was an overspray of primer. Going to just drive the car this year then detail the engine compartment next winter. Jim

I did not bevel mine, infact I covered my firewall, footboxes and wheelwell covers in aluminum turned out very nice and everything fit real well, I did not bolt the steering column in until everything was set up and then I just shimmed it up.
