Default Steering Fitment has me ready to quit

Okay guys, here it is. You have seen my many posts on fitment in the past. I have talked to Daryl numerous times as well. He assures me that I have the small block foot wells with added footroom and that up until several weeks ago, they had to modify these footboxes by taking out a section with a hole saw, filling it in with bondo, smoothing and painting it. I'll buy that, but noone here seems to have run into this. Do you all have the big block foot boxes? Did ANYONE have to make this mod? I have now gone clear through the footbox, which I do not like at all, and I still do not see the light of day comming for me to be able to get a straight shot to the pillow block. I know you need to shim the column at the mounting points, but I am talking loose, just trying to get a straight line. If I go much further down, I am going to be into the throttle cable mount. I do not need to go too much further on that end, but at the other end, I will clearly be able to put two fingers through the hole I make if I clear out enough material. This one problem has had me very frustrated from the start, and continues to plague me. I have a busy week at work next week, so will not hav emuch time to work on this, but I plan to call Bryan sometime during the week. At this poing, I am tempted to order the big block foot boxes and put them in. Only problem is that the engine is mounted already.

Do you have the steering shaft mounted to the top or the bottom of the mounting points? I didn't use any shims. Jim

I am mounting to the bottom as the pictures show on their build CD. The main problen that I am having is that if I were to take just the shaft and put it into the pillow block and let it set on the foot box, it aims for the very top of the hole that I have cut out (which is the very top of the metal ring in the cowl hoop.

Question Did ya get it figured out?

Just curious to see if this obstacle has been overcome and how? As B & B is a consideration of mine.

At this time, B&B has promised me a new firewall. They also state that this is not an issue with big blocks (or cars ordered with the big block firewalls) and their latest molds. They have been very helpfull with everything.
