Hi Tom,
Take your time and have plenty of sharp blades to cut the carpet etc. I also went a little overkill and added some “foam in a can” along the door rails. Once it dried/cured, I shaped it to fit the contour I needed. I thought the side panels would be more secure with a little backing plus you may get a little sound deadening out of it as well. I think it does make a difference where the door panel meets the bottom of the door jam. As far as fastening the side panels goes… once the door jam is riveted in the panels seem to just lay in the right place. I did buy some push in interior fasteners thinking I would need them but it seems fine to me. Maybe down the road I might need a few. The interior is a lot of hard work. I remember bending in all kinds of crazy positions while working in the foot boxes. Have plenty of spray adhesive and good ventilation as well. The fumes from the spray adhesive seems to linger in the foot boxes. If you have any specific question or need more detail shoot me an e-mail and I will give you my number. Jdolan2726@aol.com
Good Luck Jim
