Yes i hate them - the shoes that is - no I am not an Aborigine - i'm an English Chartered Accountant (CPA) to you living in Sunny Florida
I did a lot of research on the honesty of B & B B$ buying - and I was right to - they are straight as a die -(yes I needed the 3/8 one most and the 3/16 next)
what you need is not a build manual (which you wont get) but a friend - you WILL get one of those a B & B
The "what the hell is this and where does it go" is a thoroughly English question - the answer is an immediate emailed colour (ok color) photo of the part duly inserted.
YES I BUILT AND PAINTED THE WHOLE CAR WITHOUT ANY SHOES ON - shows how much original engineering went into the car - no welds required and I only got a few steel shards in my feet - much better than those sweaty soXX.
The car is a 5.0 with a few extras and i got the panels hinged by them - a good plan i thought. The engine, a 351W came from the srap yard as a rusty heap, but a few bucks (quite a few) transformed it with a nice cam and a sensible manifold with a holley made it breath the sound of 8 - Marry it to a T5 and a disc rear and it goes quite well. We british are the masters of understatement.
the project was actually straightforward but with a language problem - getting parts IS NOT THAT EASY WHEN THEY ARE CALLED SOMETHING ELSE -
PROPSHAFT=DRIVESHAFT
manifold=header
disc=rotor
colour=color
How many GALLONS of
oil goes in there?
You want me to put AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID in a manual gearbox??
No sir we dont sell gearboxes this is a transmission shop
What are all those funny thread sizes for and why do you mix them all up?
How many different lengths of bolt does it take to put on that water pump?? What!! You must be joking
anyway you get the point ..........
The paint is BRITISH RACING GREEN (of course) with gold pinstripes and racing stripes - I will reduce some of my pictures to < 20k and post them later.
Do be sensible -unlike me - rent a spray booth - painting in the garage REQUIRES THE JOB DOING TWICE unless you have a decent exhaust system!!
I made my last Cobra replica in England 15 years ago that was hell on earth - this job was near heaven. I did drive the rolling chassis around for a bit to make sure everything worked ok - that WAS FUNNNNNN!!
I have driven (and mostly owned) - Aston Martin (yuk) Lotus {(stands for LOTS OF TROUBLE - USUALLY SERIOUS) the turbo is nice though}+ the early wheels came undone if you reversed too fast!!!! Ferrari nice if you dont have to get there,jaguar E type is over rated Janspeed XJ6 twin turbo was fun (to take to get tuned) the Triumph TR's were great as was the Austin Healy 3000 in straight lines (bit like the Cobra)
For all out muscle fun go for the B & B Cobra - especially if you want a good time building it.
