Hello,

I wanted to introduce myself. I've been lurking on this site for about an year now after I acquired a wrecked B&B from my neighbor. The car was assembled locally by someone other than the PO in 2005-2006. This past May I made a trip out to Granby to pick up the new frame and body from Barry and Karen. I'll be replacing the 302 with a similar Windsor block but not sure what displacement I'll go with yet.
I'll be asking a lot of questions along the way.

Dave

Hi Dave. Welcome to the thread. I have an LA Exotic (pre-B&B, but same car). Some of the parts I've been using are Shell Valley. I'm looking for a windshield, but found that with Shell Valley, I have to buy a new frame.

I would love to get in touch with Barry to see what my options are, but the B&B site was discontinued and don't know how to find Him. Do you have contact / web site info?

Thanks..... John

John,
You can find him at McGill Manufacturing or McGill Streetrods.
Try Finishline or Factory Five. I don't know if there is one manufacturer of the windshield or frame. They all look the same to me.

Thanks for the info. I was able to get in touch with Barry. It appears he can help me with my windshield issue.

I realize that all the windshields look the same, but my research has found that there may be some differences, like the quality of the glass, the curve around the lower body interface, and the radius of the upper corners. A friend has an incorrect frame on his Contemporary and it doesn't line up with the body at the bottom for the frame. FFR had several complaints on their blog about Chinese windshields cracking upon installation. Not sure if that's been remedied. There's more to it than just calling SafeLite to come out for a standard replacement (I tried that, too).

Default Soft top?

Anyone know of any soft tops that'll fit the B&B / LA Exotics?

Thanks.

I "may" haves a soft top frame. As I remember, I tried to put the soft top on over 25 years ago, but never succeeded. The material rotted out, but I may still have the frame. I may have trashed the whole thing, since my custom roll bar prevents the top from going on. I would have to look for it, it wouldn't be in good shape, and you'd have to find a shop to put all new fabric on it. Also, there are some bushings in the body to hold the frame, and you'd have to find something to use for those, if they already aren't installed.

I'd love to sell it, if I have it. It may take me a few days to try to find it. It's bulky, but I have stuff stored all over the place. I'll get back with you after I've had a chance to hunt for it.

Sorry, but the hunt came up empty. I probably tossed it years ago, knowing I would not be able to fit it around my custom roll bar. Best wishes on your hunt for the top.

Default B&B update

Hi WHTNUKL,

I have a B&B 2002 turn key minus build that is still goin strong. I acquired it in 2014.It needed some updating & TLC. Have been in touch with Barry a few times. He fabbed a clutch pedal with a quadrant to get longer life out of the clutch cables. Took some trial & mods to get results. Set up works great. Still upgrading suspension & brakes. Its a great street cruiser. Could be used daily if weather permitted. Very reliable & drivable. Nick

Hi WHTNUKL,

Built mine in 2005 and still going strong. Barry is great to work with in my experiences. I haven't needed anything from him since I picked up the original frame and body in 2005 but have talked with him over the phone once or twice.

Your website is awesome! You have some real good ideas in there. My car is older, and HEAVILY customized more for open track events. Feels like I've swapped out everything but the paint and some of the interior. But you have some pretty clever stuff in your build. I'll be spending some time checking out your details.

Thanks for spending the extra time to document your build. I keep thinking I need to get the file cabinet drawer packed with build info into a database note book/manual. Then again, I also want to write my home/house manual, and I need to finish my Dad's book. But I like the way you did your site. I may be asking about how you did that.

I need to update the site. I’ve made some other changes in the past many years but have gotten lazy. Now I’m retired so I should have more time.
