Default brake light switch

can anyone tell me how the 78 mus II brake light switch works.
it seems if it is over the shaft it will never push against the spring causing the two wires to short.
this is the switch with the funny cotter key and the plastic bushing.
thanks
tom

Default Switch

Tom;

If by chance can you go to a GM style switch? I attached a link to a picture of my ped box with the switch in it.. It is very simple and easy.. KEM PART NUMBER EG-1072. $ 5.84...If the parts store by you doesn't carry KEM parts they should be able to cross it over for you.. I attached a link to a picture of mine.. I just drilled a hole in the front of the ped box and installed a small grommet then fed the wires through.. Mine works just fine. I also have the Haywire harness too... Hope this helps you out.. BTW you can use the same switch to make a clutch safety switch using your neutral safety circut..

FW,
What's with that spear tip you have over the clutch pedal...

That thing looks like it could take a foot off.

Default Spear?

XL;

If I am understanding you that is where the windshield support is. I took that picture from outside the car sitting on the floor. It is actually alot further to the left as you are sitting in the seat... Plenty of room to move around in there... Now that you mention it it does look funny.. I am going to post a few more pic's over the weekend before the body goes on.. Looks like paint in about 3 weeks !!!
