When I look at Griifin's and Be Cool for 67-68 mustang, I find three different radiators. They have a 68-?? Mustang, a ??-67 and a 67. Any idea which one it is? I want to go with aluminum, but I think the $795 from B&B is excessive. I would like to have it be as close as a drop in fit however, and would like to be able to get a fan that mounts to the radiator not using the through fan nylon ties and pads.

Let me know how you get on. I am looking to do the same as you and think the B&B rad is pricey and also think the nylon tie set up is a bit cheap.

Guys,
I recently had the same dillemma. The B&B price was way out line. I am kindof disappointed with how much pricier all of their part are. I want to keep them in business, but the part are so damn pricey. The 67-68 Mustang radiators cool like crazy, and were factory equipment with the 428CJs. I have used them in 2 cars.
What I decided to do for now was install the Mustang radiator, and I had a custom aluminum "false tank" made to cover the top for appearance sake. I painted the rest of the radiator with aluminum paint. It looks perfect. At some point, I will upgrade to aluminum, if anyone can find a drop-in part for a reasonable price.

I talked to Ron Davis Radiators today. For about 750, we can get an aluminum radiator with dual fans and a shroud (no plastic anchors going through the radiator). This quote was for a radiator without a filler, as I plan on using an inline filler to get it at the highest point. They would give a discount if we ordered 3 or more. I have to check dimensions and be sure that we could fit one of their universals in our car.
I may also call Griffin as well.
Anyone interested in a group purchase?

What is B&B charging these days for an aluminum radiator? The benefit to the B&B unit is that it comes with the proper mounting brackets welded on for a guaranteed fit. I thought it was in that $$ ballpark...

check out www.speedwaymotors.com look under racing parts, their highest price one in the book is $229.95. I have bought a few parts from them and they have fast service.

The B&B radiator is in the same price range, but I do not beleive that it includes the dual fans and shroud. If it does, then the price is right.

SUMMIT has good prices but i too cant deal with the mounting problems . what to do?inside bracket ,over the bracket ,different hights,why cant it be simple.

I took my stock B & B rad to Ron Davis for reference. They called it a 76-78 Mustang II (taken from the PO). They suggested I use my existing puller fan--which I did. With custom made mounting brackets and fan mounting holes--they charged $629. Dropped right in.
Tell them ahead of time not to spray paint "Ron Davis" on the front of your brand new alum. rad, unless you like that sort of thing!
I also bought a 79-93 cylindrical shaped recovery tank for $164. With some extended mounting tabs, it fit perfectly between the hood hinges. I thought it was a cool spot for it.

Sublime, did the give you the option of the shroud? Do you think they kept a reference of where the mounting brackets were? Do you have an order number or anything we could refer to?

I replied to a PM from OhBuoy this a.m.----provided him with the PO and part # from my order. I don't think it's going to help Ron Davis reference much, though. Doubt they would save measurements of the finished product. Hopefully OhBuoy will post what he finds out.
There was no shroud option presented to me and I am not currently using one. I have no idea what vehicle my single puller fan is from, but it is a Ford product. It's a big dude and probably from a truck or van.
I don't have my snout boxed in with alum. either. Something I'd like/need to do for better cooling. That being said, engine temps in the middle of AZ summers (w/ a hot running 351c) range from 190-215 deg. w/o Water Wetter.

My B&B with 351 runs about 200 degrees all the time with stock radiator and puller fan with water wetter. I also am not running any inner fender panels at this time but will be adding them soon.I think the addition of the aluminum nose pieces would allow the engine to run a bit cooler by funneling the air through the radiator. I think I will be adding these soon and will post some results.

I have the inner fender panels in mine(stock radiator & puller fan) they do make a margin difference on my motor. What I have noticed is that it takes a lot longer for the temp gauge to start creeping up in local traffic. But when you get out and start driving temp goes back down. The way I see it is that it bides you a little time if you are sitting in traffic for longer than you expect. You may have to do a little trimming on some of the panels. They designed them with very tight tolerances.

For what it is worth I had Arts Radiator in New Jersery build me a custom cross flow aluminium radiator. It is a 2 core BUT the cores are a full 1" in width. This radiator has never ran HOT! I would encourage others to look at a similar set up and I only paid $450.00 for mine. His email address: arts@ptd.net
