Fuel Level Sender
I was a reading a thread that said the fuel level sender that B&B includes in their kits doesn't work very well. Before I go out and get another one, is there anyone that got the B&B sender to work as it should?

Mike,
I see you have joined the fuel sender club. I think there are two camps. Those that don't seem to have any problem with the original sender and those that despise the original. I happen to be in the latter camp. I am the proud owner of an original version that showed either full or empty no matter how much fuel. When I took it out and manually moved the float it seemed to work well, but it was not reliable in the tank. I just didn’t trust it in the end.
After reading posts in this site, I purchased the ISSPRO RA9506. It’s a 6” unit that is as close to fitting the B&B tank as there is, I guess. It seems to be better, but not perfect. Some of the same issue as the original. One caution is that we have to match the resistance of the gauge with the sending unit.

I am the person who suggested the ISSPRO. As stated, it is better, but not perfect. I know that there is another version out there that can be trimmed to length. I may try for that at the end of the season, as I think I have blown this years budget already.

Boris.
I too couldn't get the FARIA fuel gauge to work properly so I went to a Autometer pickup and gauge. In fact I have replaced all my FARIA gauges with Autometer and I am very pleased with Autometer (also where you can use the mechanical gauges and not the electrical). Buy them at Summit or JEGs.

Clois,
Do you think the Faria guage would have worked with the Autometer sender as long as the resistance was correct?

Yes, in fact that is what I did first. I bought the Autometer sending unit and I believe the FARIA is for a Chevrolet. I changed guages because I wanted a mechanical temp ( oil and water) as well as a mechanical oil pressure gauge.

Clois,
Do you have the Autometer sending unit part number handy?

I do at home if you can wait I will post it tonight or tomorrow (if I don't forget). I know that the OHM ratings was 0-90 ohms (standard GM).

Your FARIA part number is GPO707 and it is a 0-90 ohms. Below is the Faria web site and then the Summit web site with the various ending units (I may have use the Summit sending unit however).

It looks my Faria fuel gauge part number is GP8308A. I couldn't find that gauge on the Faria website!? It looks like the one pictured except that between E and F there's 1/2 at the top. I'll have to call Faria to find out the resistance range.
