Default Need help - lots of it

I have three issues I need help with, build manual hasn't been much help and I am no mechanic:

1) I have the Ididit steering column from B&B, for those that have one installed, how huch of the column is showing between the tapered section and the dash board?

2) Motor mounts, I assume I have to purchase something to weld to the chassis and another mount to bolt to the engine which in turn bolts to the welded chassis mount? I have a 347 stroker if that helps. What do I need to purchase and directions on installation would be a big help.

3) What should I buy for an electric fuel pump? Can you get one with the mounting bracket like in the manual pictures?

I am try to put the push on so I can have the car on the road this summer. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Corey Crawley

I'm still building mine but I can give you some feedback:

1) I went with the Ididit steering column as well. Nothing has been set in stone yet but the mockup that I did had the turn signal stock about an 1.5-2.0" from the dashboard. This may change a little as everything begins to be finalized but that is close.

2) B&B has the motor mounts that can be either bolted or welded in place and are specific to the size engine that you will be using (SB or BB). If you give them a call and let them know what engine you are planning on using, they'll ship them out. There isn't any definite location for the mounts to be installed so you'll need to install the engine/transmission to determine the exact placement.

3) Can't help you at all there as I currently have mechanical fuel pump.

Hope that helps a little.

One other thing that you might want to consider is getting the CD. While it doesn't go into any more build instruction than the manual, it does have a lot of additional pictures of each of the build steps that have been helpful for reference.

About the ididit column... the tapered section transitions into the straight section (on the steering wheel side) at 1-1/2", measuring straight out from the dash cover.

the manual flat out sucks.!!! steering column.. I put it so the tapered part starts behind the dash so i would have more arm room(I'm 6'2") Motor mount you want as far back as possible, so the drivers side header doesnt hit the foot box . the header is the limiting factor.I have about 3/8" between the foot box and header. 4"or 5" the engine could have been moved back if the headers were custom made. B&B did not give me a few different parts and its hard to know what they left out when the manual is sooooo bad,but call KAREN and she will send what you need for free cause you allready paid for them. B&B is really great about that. just keep posting your questions and read all the old posts . We all went through it too. Peter.

I've been sidetracked in a new business startup so I'm running a little behind!
