Default Sorta Cobra....this only happens to me!

These things only happen to me!
As I may have told you all, I decided to go back to the stock cam in my ’93 Cobra Mustang. (it was an E303)
I did. We drove the Cobra to the Lake of the Ozarks last Friday and it ran perfectly.
It has less HP but much more than just a stock Mustang Cobra. I left the big heads on and the FIPK. Plus '93 Cobra’s have 70mm throttle bodies and mass air. I am guessing it is still around 300 to 310 HP.
Anyway we got back and I noticed a knock coming from the engine compartment, at least I thought so. It’s hard to tell. Sounds like a rod bearing but it is a brand new engine. Maybe one of the roller rockers came lose or I forgot to adjust it properly. You get that when you are old! But I do everything twice to make sure I don’t miss anything. I got the stethoscope out and went all around the engine. I decided to pull the rocker covers and see if any oblivious concerns. Nothing, everything is right. Now I ‘m over and under this thing. What in the world? The rod bearing looks more and more likely. I am depressed to say the least. It is loudest coming from number 1 cylinder. I give it my most attention. I finally noticed the exhaust manifold bolts were missing on number 1. I have MAC headers and MAC headers are singles, no solid flange. The missing bolts let the header flange knock against the head and…well I replaced them and everything is good once again. We are talking probably a 1/16th of and inch or less. That’s all it takes sometime. Man!
