Default Backdraft Windshield Help - Wind Wings and Sun Visor

I feel kinda stupid posting these questions - but I am at wits end here trying to find a solution without causing more damage.

Ok - so I have been dealing with windshield problems ever since I got my BackDraft.

In the first month the windshield split right down the middle. Backdraft warranty was great and they sent me a new one. In trying to install the glass I was not able to make it look perfect since I was reusing the rubber grommits / seals.

In talking with the guys at Backdraft I decided to buy their Chrome over brass windshield. Well I got it installed and it looks great. Much nicer than the stock aluminum one that came with it.

But I have not ran into some problems.

Wind Wings - The screws used to hold the frame in place do not go straight in. They go in on an angle which makes reinstalling the side mirror and windwings impossible. I even bought some glass wind wings from finishline and all the hardware. None of it will work. Here are some pictures. Any suggestions?

It is almost as if I need to cut the bracket on an angle to make it work. Or get something that would shim it - but that does not seem right.

Sun Visors. - One the new windshield - there are 4 pairs of pre drilled and treaded holes. The sun visors on the old windshield use one screw which is much larger than the new holes - so again I ordered a whole new set from finish line. From the pictures on finish line it looked like the brackets used the same twin screw mounting - but the holes don't match up. On the finish line bracket the spacing is larger than what it on the windshield.

I supposed I could just use one small screw but it seems like if there are two holes side by side there should be a bracket available that would work.

Jesse, is the wind wing screw going in crooked because the BDR mirror bracket has a different hole spacing? In the past I have enlarged the hole in the mirror bracket to make things work with the variances.

For the sunvisor mounts we have reused the BDR mount by redrilling/taping the frame.

If you had trouble with the factory replacement (gasket) you may want to take this one to a pro... there's a lot of things you can do here to break the glass including drilling too deep, using hardware that is too long, and/or screwing it in too far and tight.

Compounding things, you have a collection of different parts from different suppliers (Backdraft, Finishline, Importers, etc)

For the Wind Wings the screws that go into the from are going in on an angle. I saw the problem with the side mirror bracket I have already drilled out and enlarged the holes in the bracket.

I've got one of those frames here and they are straight so I guess you need to call the supplier?

Jesse,
Just a suggestion related to glass vs plexiglas wind wings. I ordered and installed the glass ones from Finishline since I thought the glass ones would look better by not getting as scratched as the plexiglas.
I didnt overtighten them but must have created some kind of pressure point when mounting them. Driving one day, one shattered with glass all over the inside!
I now use the plexiglas ones with a plexiglas specific made cleaner to avoid scratches. Then use Zaino or Novus ( from Cobra Valley ) to remove any scratches that do happen.
Also think the plexiglas would be more forgiving in mounting in case holes needed to be drilled a little to align etc..
