Default wanting to install 17 inch bolt on wheels and tires

a three part question....

did a search for back spacing on 17 inch wheels. 8" wide on front with 4.5" back spacing, rears at 11" with a 5.75" back spacing. are these good numbers? or?

next...wheel options, I know about team III, other options out there?

now for tires. I want to do some Xcrossing, but still want them to be street legal. recommendations backdraft owners? what you got and why.

thks....

I have some PSE Kidney Bean bolt on wheels which I might be interested in selling. They have Kumho XS tires (2008 date code) with one season (11 events) of autocross on them. They will be good for at least another 11-12 events. They are very good "street" autocross tires in dry conditions, not so good in the wet. Specs on the wheels: 5 x 4.75" bolt pattern. Front is 8" wide, 4.25" BS. Rear is 9" wide, 3.5" BS. Tires are 245/40/17 front and 275/40/17 rear. Set up can be seen in 1 picture in my gallery.

My number is 6" backspace on 10" rear, 4.5 " on 8" front. 15 inch vs 17 inch, does it matter?

Yes, size does matter!

I have two sets of Team III 15" wheels. One set has BFG"s & the other, Avon's. For those with 15" wheels, the number of tires being made is just not there anymore.

I have wanted to try some modern tread designs for a while now, and after talking to Scott at Team III Wheels, I put an order in for some 17" 2 piece-wheels today. After some discussion, I committed to the following wheels and backspacing for a Backdraft:

Fronts - 8"x 17" with a 4 1/2" backspace. With 1/4" tire overlap on each side, this would put the final number at 5".

Rears - 11" x 17" with a 5 3/4" backspace. With a 1/4" tire overlap on each side, this would put it the final number at 6".

Scott said that the turnaround should be about 2 weeks.

As far as tires for them, I've chosen the Nitto 555R.
245/45 17 for the fronts.
315/35 17 for the rears.

Tomorrow, I'm going to put both sets of the 15" wheels and tires up for sale.

Anyone interested?

The rears should have been 6 1/4" total backspace with tires mounted. I realized the mistake as soon as I hit the send button.

American Racing has some nice bolt on Halibrand-type wheels in various sizes. I think they are called "Cobra Classics" or something like that. You can look them up at Summit. I bought mine from Discount Tire. (don't know if you have Discount Tire in Buckeye-land) Special order and took close to three months. Someone goofed on the bolt pattern I ordered and the replacement wheels got to me in less than a week. Was SO glad the correct size I ordered was on the invoice so I didn't have any he-said, he-said.

When I spoke of 15 or 17, I knew there are different selections of tires...I was referring that backspacing should be the same for the width of the wheels I mentioned.
