Finally did it, BDR1077 on order!
Hi everyone
Well after doing a ton of research and driving a few cobras I came to the conclusion that the Backdrafts were the best bang for the buck in terms of balancing quality, performance, aesthetic appeal and price. So........
I jumped in with both feet and placed an order with Jay at vintage motorsport! The chassis is at VMS waiting for the motor (ordered the new VMS 427X, 500+hp and torque).
Jay was extremely helpful during the ordering process, answered a ton of my questions and helped me finalize my options.
Ordered the Spectra Blue with white strips, will post some pics when I have the car in hand, hopefully in a few weeks or so

Congrats on the new BDR. I have the 1st Spectra Blue w/White stripes #983 and love the color. I believe Jay referred to it as Blue Chrome when it was in his shop as it really shines. Enjoy it!!! I know I'm enjoying mine. BTW...Jay is great to work with and Puts out a great product

Thanks all! Happy to be a part of the backdraft family and looking forward to getting the car and posting some pics
@snowgoer, the pics of your car on the VMS website went a long way to helping me choose the color combo. I was leaning towards indigo blue with titanium silver stripes until I saw the spectra blue with white stripes. Either way, you really can't go wrong with the color combo on these cars, they look good in any color

Welcome Art and congratulations. Great color combo and you correct you really cant go wrong they all look good. I purchased my Backdraft #488 in 2007 with VMS and couldn't be happier with the car and service I have received.
Jay just drove up 200 miles to pick up my car yesterday to go through everything and put it away for the winter.
What are some of the options you are going with?
Enjoy the build the car will be ready before you know it.

Hi Peter, and thanks
I kept the options pretty simple:
- ceramic headers and pipes
- heated seats
- 17 inch wheels
- upgraded aluminum radiator
- 3M front and rear
- upgraded leather wheel
- and of course the engine: VMS 427 making 500+ hp and torque
I think Jay mentioned the motor should be in hand after thanksgiving so looking forward to seeing the pics on the build site next week
Best

Congratulations.....you made a great choice in both the car and the dealer. Jay couldn't be more reliable and knowledgable. I purchased #334 in 2006 and am reluctantly putting it away this weekend for the winter. The Cobra community couldn't be nicer and more helpful .Enjoy

Congrats!
You must be Artin?
I'm Brian, owner of BDR1078. I'm following your build along with my own. I agree...Jay and Vintage Motorsports is a first class operation. You and I will have the same engine, so we'll have to keep in touch and exchange feedback on performance once the cars are received.
I'm just as excited for you and your car as I am about mine. Like you, this has been something I've been planning for a long time. Now I just wish it wasn't snowing out here in Fort Wayne, IN! I'll have to lots of daydreaming in my garage!

Thanks
Hi Brian
Yes that's me. I've checked out your build slides, the Silver and black is a classic combo and looks great. I'm in the SF bay area so it does get a bit chilly and we do get rain but luckily no snow, so hopefully I'll get a chance to take her out a few times during our "winter" LOL.
Jay speaks highly of the VMS 427X, so looking forward to seeing, feeling and hearing it in person! I think our cars should be done about the same time, but since you're closer I'll expect a full report when you get yours!
btw, what options did you settle on for your build?
Cheers,
Art

I too kept it simple Art.
Black centers on the 17" rims
Silver ceramic coated Headers/Sidepipes/Heatshields
Rear 3M
Ray Dyot Mirror on driver's side
VMS 427X engine package
Leather Steering Wheel
Hurst Short Shifter handle
Classic Black Shift knob
I'm also having Jay switch out the backdraft fender logos to the classic 427 cobra logos. I've purchase a set of the 2" round cobra hood/trunk badges that I will apply myself. They are made by the original manufacturer and cost a little more but the quality is outstanding.
I'll probably put some sort of sound system in it myself over the winter. I have to do SOMETHING with the car after all!
I will definitely give you a full report upon receiving the car!

For all you guys talking about putting your Cobras away for the winter I want you to know one thing,
I've been driving mine to work all week!
I know, I know, "Steve you're an A-hole."
Merry Christmas guys, I hope you get to drive those puppies as soon as you get them. I found myself smiling at nothing in particular this morning and will prolly do the same at lunch and when I go home. I'm sure you guys will feel the same way!

Thanks Steve
Looking forward to taking delivery in January. Looking forward to taking her out ASAP. Weather will likely be a bit chilly in the bay area in jan & feb but still gets into the 50's and 60's mid day.
And Jay good to know the engine is on the way!
