great pics... awesome photography... really highlights the engine... which looks terrific in the engine bay. That's definitely the kind of Backdraft I WISH I had, tho I'd spring for the bumpers front & rear. Don't get me wrong, I love mine, but I'll bet the Coyote is a smoother/more drivable car than mine... and much more fuel efficient. Would love to have fuel injection, but can't justify the cost for how little I drive it anymore. On a good day, I'll get 12 mpg steady-state cruising on the freeway. Not a huge issue, but something I DO think about. Grass is always greener, I guess...

Do an engine swap, that coyote is the cheapest engine out there at 6 grand, your block on your engine cost almost that, sell yours and downgrade.

I hate those extra costs, lol, when you get that thing to 7200rpm your gonna be amazed how simple it gets there, the backdraft and spf were made for these engines, its like a ferrari with 1500pds less. In a few years that engine will be recieving direct injection and its a game changer, the computers love it, well over 500hp natural.

Yes direct injection down the road... but I have to imagine we are 4 years out for that.

I have a really good friend who is a top engineer at ford, can't say his name, a few others on here know him as well, he told us they have some coyotes right now with direct injection as well as a few other goodies on it, he said the way they can tune this engine with there new programs, it easily has 600hp potential on race gas, he said that the direct injection and these heads along with there new tunes will take this engine to another level. He did say about 3 to 4 years out like you said, but it will be worth the wait, Also they can improve mpg even more and now its gets like 26mpg, could you imagine 500 hp and 32 mpg highway. Plus the engine fully dressed is 430pds.

I believe when the direct injection technology emerges it will just mean a head swap and ecu upgrade. So it's not like the orphans the 4.6 engines have become.

I still think 30+mpg is a safe bet on this setup. If you run it consistent over a real distance.

Thanks all.

Ford lists engine weight as 444 lbs. it's light, and very nimble. Also very low profile oil pan for tons of clearance. The other thing is ow smooth it runs, does not budge as you rev. It will mean enhanced reliability for the whole car since it is not shaking itself apart.

We have her listed at 59.9k. That's a bit off list. There's wiggle room.

Into a BDR? There are some footbox changes in the new cars that allow this thing to fit. Look at where the Coyote sits in a BDR vs. in an SPF

I know someone who has the 5.0 with the Boss 302 injection...me....just got a new tune....probably at 440 RWHP now....last Dyno showed 420 ....car is a beast in 3rd and 4th....just keeps pulling and I am still in the break in mode (my call) ...have not opened it up yet....it will pull forever. Reaction at car shows has been really amazing and the look is very cool...Thanks to Reg,Frank and the Backdraft Boyz.

Jay, Beautiful car! Coyote's Lookin' good! I'm lovin' those mirrors man!
