Default Gas smell

Took delivery of #1234 a few months ago. Love the car! One of the reasons I chose to go with the 5.0 Coyote was so my garage wouldn't smell of gas like a carbed motor would. However, there is a distinct gas odor when I park it in the garage. Its not so much the smell, but the concern of gas vapors possibly igniting. I've never experienced this situation with any other car I've owned.

Would appreciate any input, as I'm concerned its a safety issue.

Depending on your tank, and I would assume that you have an aluminum one, I would check the gasket where the level/sending unit is on top of it. Mine leaked from day one but wasn't to hard to fix. Mine was originally for a carbed car so I don't know what might have changed but it's a good place to start.

What is the manufacturer of the Cobra? I would guess it is more of an annoyance than a safety issue.

Back in the 1970s I would go scuba diving and throw my wet dive gear in the trunk of my 1966 Mustang. Wasn't very long before there were rust holes in the gas tank as the top of the gas tank was the floor of the trunk. Boy did it stink, but it didn't explode! (Yes, I got a new gas tank pretty quick.)

I took delivery on BDR 1220 June 2014 and experienced gas smell in the garage. I found two leaks. The first was located at the fitting in the gas line where it changes from tubing to metal flex hose. I tighten fitting and stopped the leak. The second finally showed as a drip from the top of the gas tank at the sending unit when I filled the tank for winter storage. Ran tank low and dropped tank and replaced sending unit gasket to stop the leak.

It may even be an even simpler problem. I found that if I fill the tank, the auto shut off at the pump leaves the tanke very full (even a quart more will overflow). If I do not drive a few files before parking it and the temperature rises, the fuel expands and actually can come out the cap which is not a great pressure seal. Had this happen once, now I take a little ride after each fill-up.
