Effective June 1, 2014
BACKDRAFT RT3 ROADSTER ROLLING CHASSIS MSRP $39,900
Orders prior to June 1st will be at the current MSRP of $35,900. That is correct, order today and save $4,000.
Backdraft Racing has resisted a price increase for years but has finally been forced to adjust pricing to cover upgrades and improvements that have been rolled into production. Among the upgrades and improvements included: - Enhanced Paint Clearcoat
- 18" Knock Off Wheels and Tires Standard
- Autometer Classic Styled Gauges with CCW Speedometer
- Moto-Lita Style Wood Steering Wheel
- Improved Seats and Slider System
- Wilwood Clutch Master Cylinder
- Fuel Sender Access Panel
- Other Improvements TBA
The good news is you can order your Backdraft RT3 prior to June 1st, 2014 and get all the improvements and upgrades at the current pricing of $35,900.
Vintage Motorsports will be offering additional incentives for orders placed at the Carlisle Kit Car Nationals next week in Carlisle, PA where we will have our usual display.

Backdraft #326
Need some help please. Got a ticket for no license plate on the front of the car sunday on the way to a show here in Maryland. Has anyone else you know of had this problem? I plan on going to court on this but need some sort of verification that Cobras were not sold new with front brackets, or any sort of proof that the cars were not intended to have front plates. I've followed your E-mails for years and you have had the answers and knowledge to answer most. I know you are very busy and this is a pain request, but any help when I go to court will be greatly appreciated.

So in other words, they are taking available options now (with the exception of the 18" wheels), and making them standard on all future cars rather than have the customer choose his price point. Gotcha

It's been $35k for many years now. The car was do for a price adjustment, the same price increase backdraft has been talking about for years. You might as well ignore the standard options and just accept that the car can't stay $35k forever.

Good. I hope the prices on all makes and models goes up.
But that's just because I'm selfish.

Not to hijack Jays thread, but whether or not a particular car/truck came with or without a bracket for a front plate is irrelevant. All that matters is the motor vehicle laws in that particular state.

Just so we can put it to bed. I believe if the state you are in has a proper registration path for the vehicle as the year it replicates (and you car is registered in that manner) you must only comply with the equipment requirements of that year. Our '61 Econonline shop van does not have seat belts for example...

The reality is that production costs are up and a few items such as the 18" wheels became standard almost 2 years ago, however a price increase was resisted while the market recovered. It's done a little better than just recovering now so...
I never was a proponent for buying "part of your car" before you had the financials in order to buy everything to complete it but if you were planning to do it in the next 1 - 2 years and you have enough now to buy the roller it would be worthwhile for the savings, $4k is the difference between a 351W with 400hp and a 427W with 550+hp...

Whoever buys one now that's a plus down the road on resale. Gotta look at it that way too.
