Broken accelerator pedal
Went out for a spirited drive today (perhaps too spirited) and all of a sudden the gas pedal lost it's resistance and pushing it to the floor felt like 20% power.
Limped the car home and saw the bracket broken off the accelerator pedal on the picture. I cannot figure out where this attaches to but it looks like it needs to be replaced. Anyone seen this or have any idea where this bracket that the cable is on attaches to?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the pictures. Almost looks like the piece that broke off is glued on in your picture

Todd, we started reinforcing that bracket because the factory plate was too thin. Make sure you are getting the carb to fully open with pedal in. I can send you something to re enforce if it's bending.
Eric, you've got that factory cable we never use.

Jay-- are you encouraging me to floor it? Because... I mean... OKAY!
I have not noticed any issues other than my brake pedal still doesn't fully return (I found the bolt outside the pedal box and loosened it).
Seriously though... the next time it stops raining in here in FL I will take her out and see if there are any issues.

Jay, how do you use to reinforce the bracket? Weld and additional bracket on top of the existing bracket?

Much simpler than that. It's really just an L shaped piece of alum or steel that you drill and bolt to wall.

Thanks for the input Jay, Im guessing it must of happened more than a few times given that you now reinforce over factory.
Do you have a picture of the piece you reinforce with? Perhaps sell through your shop with the cable you use?

My pedal fix has held well. I would guess that many don't realize that it's even an issue, and for them, it probably isn't.

Jay-surely you are not still upset that I bought my car through Reg and could not afford the price difference/upgrades on yours!
I love BDR and would hope you can provide insight on how to make them better in this case.

You appear to be paying for the upgrades now I explained already what it takes. As for the cable I suggest a Lokar and you will need some adapting to make it work but it won't put the excessive force on the assembly that trans cable does.

EBruce, it really is this. Simple yet effective.
