Got everything installed in 15 minutes. It was a piece of cake. Used soap dish detergent on the boot and got the shifter on with no tearing. Not sure it will last long. Love the feel and placement of the knob. Much more comfortable. I highly suggest this mod.

Old thread I know but quick question... How were you able to remove the two bolts to remove the shifter? I got my car from Jay also and it seems they use red Loctite and allen head bolt! I can't remove them for the life of me. And since they used allen bolt instead of a regular octagon head I'm afraid to strip it. I've tried heat gun, torch, break cleaner, pretty much everything I found on youtube. The worst part is that it's an allen head therefore I can't put so much force or I will strip it. Help!!!

We do not use red loctite on the shifter handle. However the previous owner of the car may have.

Perhaps blue Loctite? I know it was definitely installed by you guys because I can see the shifter was installed in the built pics from your website. Regardless I gave up it was too difficult. You guys can change it out for me when I bring it in for service very soon hahahaha.

No, don't use any Loctite. But those bolts can, and will, vibrate loose, so safety wire them.

Man I would've been done in 10mins if they wouldve used bolts like the one on yours. Instead look at mine hahaha smh. They definitely have some kind of adhesive on them because they don't move at ALL. I cant force them to much cause I'll strip the head. With your bolts it would've been a breeze though even with the adhesive. LMAO

Let me rephrase that. We do not use Loctite (red or blue) on the shifter handle. The previous owner of your car added it or someone he had service it added it.

I see what you mean, my apologies. You're saying you did install the shifter without any adhesive but he may have added it afterward himself. Gotcha. Well, he really screwed us hahaha.

And it would have been faster and easier for him just to have put in drilled-head aircraft bolts and then wire them. I can think of a few times that I've used red loctite and then later said "why in the heck did I do that?"

Short Shifter
I love the short Hurst shifter handle with ball. For me it was a big improvement over the stock shifter which is more of an up and down motion. I prefer a front to back when shifting.

In my CR1 the Steeda was too tall to fit under a stock rubber boot. I tried a "hump" made of fiberglass. Didn't like the look. So I went back to the stock shifter.
