VMS installed mine before #1474 left CT and I assume it is in the "normal" position. I've found (either fortunately or unfortunately) that the tow hook is now the lowest part of the car in the front. Probably best for me as I've already had the tow hook "save" the lower fascia on my car by being first to touch ground/curb. I can feel with my hand that the paint is scuffed on the bottom of the towhook but there are no signs of damage when looking at the towhook from any vantage point higher than 6" off the ground.

That's a good point and didn't think about that when I adjusted my hook height. I just wanted mine more snug to the body but having it lower would be an added protection.

Jay- You need to post a thread with all the extra toys VMS offers such as the turkey pan and tow hook so we know what is out there and available for purchase.

We just lack the ability to actually sell them. Years ago we flirted with having an online store and selling everything. But the reality is are time is locked up on building... and these parts sort of trickle from that.

I've spent a lot of time the last 2 weeks getting these parts collected and photographed etc. to actually begin selling them. So it's a slow process but you will see things from it.

We do have some pretty trick stuff to share.

Very nice! Can't quite make out it pics, but are the screw holes in the sides for access to the mixture screws on the carb? I drilled mine in alignment with the adjusting screws, then milled down a short screwdriver that fits right in.

It's a 2 piece unit. Base and sides. This allow you to remove pan sides to access the carb.

I really value the looks of what is under the hood of a car like a Cobra. It should look like there was a design made and followed such that the final appearance is a 'finished' look. e.g., wires are grouped together and routed to avoid a cluttered look, the colors of the wires, distributor, alternator, intake, water pump, carb, air filter, etc. are tastefully coordinated so as to not stand out like the colors of a tri-colored flag, the nuts and bolts are secured with no evidence of a wrench having been put on them. You have to appreciate that in ASO544's Backdraft. The photos look just stunning to me.
The turkey pan looks like a quality item and is consistent with the looks of the rest of the engine compartment and I have to believe that it would not look nearly as nice on an engine that wasn't installed at Vintage. I have to give my compliments to Jay and Brian at VMS for staying true to the quality that they produce in their shop.
Nevertheless, I am going to stick with my horsepower robbing oval Cobra air cleaner which is sucking in air that approaches 150 degrees, which I have measured, even though I know a turkey pan would mitigate this condition and give me a few more horses. I am satisfied with my setup every time I lift the hood and look at what Brian has done.

I totally agree on the care and craftsmanship that goes into a VMS engine install! That being said I am 99.9% sure that ASO544's car did not get its heart up in Connecticut.... Brian always hides the ignition coil out of sight while the Florida guys put it in view by the right inner fender.

The Turkey Pan does do a lot to dress up ASO544's engine bay. I'm a bit partial to the polished valve covers though over the semi-black covers - then again I better be since I asked Jay to put 'em on my car!

Yes mine was completed in Florida but no doubt VMS puts out the quality builds !!! I'm still in deciding mode whether to strip my valve covers down and leave the top raw and polish the sides. I do think the semi black cover accent the air cleaner. It's always a work in progress I guess!!!!

Been experimenting with finishing options. This sample was done in one powder process called "chrome". It's not mirror finish at all but looks really clean and will not require much upkeep. If someone wants a deal on one I will offer a discount on this sample. Just use the online form at Turkey Pans by VMS and send me a note.

For anyone out there with a SBF that has a carburetor with the fuel inlet on the driver’s side… I know from experience there doesn’t appear to be any Turkey Pans available for that application… EXCEPT for VMS. They CAN make a pan for that application too… because they made one for me earlier this year.

ZERO buyer’s remorse… and it makes a really nice addition to the engine compartment.
