The poly diff mounts are there as I want a weee little bit of deflection there so as to slow down the shock load transfer to the ground under load and back to the diff when you release the load.

tried the autocrossing in my BDR, I need p/s and a quicker ration rack for me to do it. Nice numbers on the "G" forces! and thanks for the Poly diff mount explaination.

Backdrafts P/S rack is quick.. But I bought a true BMW Z3 rack and installed it.
It is a little quicker and I went with a KRC pump as you can change the valving for more feedback....
Backdrafts rack is an aftermarket unit.. They do NOT know the true ratio... somewhere between 2.7 and 3.2....
The BMW Z3 rack is 2.7....

Finally got the car into the garage for al look today. Looks like the half shaft broke at the diff C/V joint. So, my question is what half shaft to buy?

I run 315/30/18 BFG Rival S tires on my car and in 3 years of autocrossing I've snapped one axle.. the R/H side one and I did it in Scottsdale this past March. I just replaced it with another BDR unit as since I only snapped one in 3 years I figured the BDR units are good enough. Brian at BDR told me some people (drag racers) have special half shafts made by "The Driveshaft Shop" in Salisbury, NC.... The cost was really high and since I didn't think I'd snap another one I passed on the custom built unit...

You have an early car so the shafts are standard bmw units and not the aftermarket designs used the last 6 years or so. If you are going to drag the car with real tires you should consider shafts from https://www.driveshaftshop.com

The best method is to send them yours so they can build what you need exactly.

The wait is long though...

You can buy nice replacements at NAPA to run in the meantime.
