street tire launch at a sticky drag strip
OK...just broke something in the diff or half shaft on my #260 BDR car. 3.91 gears posi diff, 295 50 15 cooper cobra tires, 3000 rpm launch, on a T5WC trans. getten wheel hop, like 3 to 4 chirps before it hooks, 1.8XX 60 foot times. Got the Bilstien shock and standard BMW rubber in the rest of the car. Wheel hop did seem real bad...but it broke. 390 rwhp on a 347 cid stroker. What will fix the wheel hop? BTW...11.970 @ 117.4 MPH
also shifting to second...no hop just tire spin! ditto 3rd

Cooper tire. Seriously. Try a real tire. Those are the same tires I use on my work van.

One of my to-do list of things on my car...
Since I have a very early Serial# and questionable age and source of components when built.
Even if was a new suspension during the build the bushings are all soft rubber for a family sedan.
Personally I won't go so far as needle bearings or Beryllium Copper bushings since I'm not a racer.

So whats happening when the hop occurs take a look at this 2015 Mustang video. The principles are the same.
The fore-aft motion of the wheel causes the breakaway. But the other areas (Diff) are all over the place as well.

IRS cars typically suck at the strip.

spdbrake...thanks for the links. I have found that the CC forum folks to be helpful.
Yep, I know IRS car suck for launches in 1/4 mile stuff.
I see the BackDraft Boys have solid mount for the subframe and the third member.... http://www.backdraftparts.com/produc...-bushings.html
Turner Motor sports has solid on the diff ears, delrin on the nose... https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...36-m3/?pdk=AgE I like that configuration.

Not really. And since there are a ton of companies making aftermarket parts for the suspension design there are many options and some price competition. A lot better than a custom suspension with only a supply chain though the manufacturer of the car.

Do have a questions. all are solid mounts, except the diff mounting is Poly...the reason you selected this poly mounts for the diff is?

The entire suspension is without rubber or poly as I want to eliminate as much deflection as possible. This makes the handling much more predictable and allows me to pull higher G's... We pull around 1.3 G's when turning and around 1 G accelerating and braking. And we change directions a lot. An autocross is basically a road course without the straits....
The poly diff mounts are there as I want a weee little bit of deflection there so as to slow down the shock load transfer to the ground under load and back to the diff when you release the load.
Kevin....

Which Cooper tires do you have?
I have the Cooper Cobra tires on mine and I could swear I looked it up and came up with mid-90 (95? 98??) mph ratings.
But I could be wrong and besides, I'm not *too* worried about taking a 95mph rated tire to 110-115mph for a short time. Sustained might worry me.

Cooper Cobra tires are T speed rated (118 mph / 190 km/h), except for P295/50R15 which is S speed rated (112 mph / 180 km/h).
