The Flowmasters will be here today. I hope to have them welded up next week.

I'll post some DB readings as well.

BTW Summit has them on sale.

Default Burns Stainless

Mark at Breeze suggested that his pipes, which are not fitted for a Backdraft anyway but I could cut my pipes, won't reduce the sound level as much as I would like.

I also contacted Burns Stainless. Their race mufflers could be a great solution, but still researching.

Although mine don't sound bad now, they're just too choked down with 2 (7/8" dia) tubes per side.

The 30" Flowmasters aren't your answer

They sound quiet in the garage at start up
In the tunnels at WOT, you're not passing any Db test.

This is perfect as the DB test will not happen in a tunnel nor at wot

Not to mention the major backlash when the exhaust hits the "wall" at the inlet!

Not installed yet. I finally finished up the polishing the new mufflers last week.
Although I'm still considering White ceramic coating once they're all done.
(Not too fond of the bling bling with the stainless system.)

My Gilmore 304 highly polished Stainless Steel kit.

The Gilmore Kit-

Firefly teamed up with the Stainless Works team and is now proud to offer the Gilmore side pipe kit. This kit is 100% polished 304 stainless steel and has long legged 2-inch primary tubes to enable you to trim to fit your car. The kit includes the primaries to the turnout and will be available in 3 muffler configurations, from 2 inch to a 3 inch internal bore mufflers. All pieces are shown in the pictures.

A special thanks to the SW team for their efforts in helping make this a realit

Muffler can be changed out for your DB of choice.

3" muffler - Most performance at the cost of some increase in sound

2-1/2" muffler - A step in the middle

2" muffler - Close to stock in sound with improved performance

Firefly Stainless Steel performance pipes have been designed

Some photo's. The collector is not reduced to rob HP.

(I'll have to reduce my pixel count to attach more photo's)

Here's my original thread link in 2009.

I have polished stainless pipes as a kit.

Default Side Exhause

I talked to Firefly about a year ago and was told by them they only produce exhaust for the Superformance cars. Sure wish they would make them for the Backdraft cars as what you get from them is very poor quality. I know I have a set from them.

Got my DB meter in this week.
New SS collector hardware arriving today from www.McMaster.com

Just waiting on the Welder to have time to come do it.

I need to do some baselines this weekend based on what the OP had experienced at Laguna Seca. Meter is located 50ft from the race line of the track per this video.

Finally got the Flowmasters welded up yesterday.
Had to have the BDR pipes expanded a fat 1/8" for the diameter difference.
The casings stay pretty cool and you can lay your hand on em but we'll see once I hit the highway.
They are quieter for sure and I'll post some DB numbers this weekend.

Finally got all the DB readings.
Since the OP was having issues with passing Laguna Seca's DB limits I measured using the track distance listed on their website.
All taken at 50ft distance perpendicular to the side of the car.

Stock BDR exhaust: Idle 82DB, WOT 4500 102DB
Flowmaster 30" slimlines Idle 72.5DB, WOT 4500 97.9db

I also just finished my new sidepipes, including a 200 cell race cat and the 30'' Slimelines.
Cobra sounds still very good, but no earplugs needed any more...way to go!

Those are huge reductions in sound levels. Impressive. Any hit on power?
