Shifter Advice
New to the forum. BDR #1369 5.0 Coyote with Tremec TKO600 5 speed. Looking for advice on short throw shifter. Are they worth it?

Short throw shifter typically implies altering or replacing the shift mechanism.
I have no experience with that.
However, I found the shelby dog-leg shifter got in the way of, I don't know, steering.
So, I installed a shorter Hurst shift arm. Been able to steer ever since then.
Love it.

There are lots of threads about this topic. I love my MGW. Most go with steeda or Pro-50.

I installed the short throw from vintage motorports this spring. I really like it so far but I won't decide for sure until after my first autocross.
When I removed the old shifter the bolts were really loose and was making the shifter extra sloppy. May put it back in and try it again.
You can't beat the look of the short shifter with a white knob...

I have 3 different shifters for the car. Looked at the Hurst and found it would destroy the boot is a short period of time. I like the Jordan shifter I am using now the best.

If you like to punch the shifter, then you must have a shifter with adjustable positive stops.
Any of the good aftermarket shifters that offer this are better than the stock shifter, and your transmission will thank you for it.

Mid Shifter
I have a TKO 600 that I installed the Tremec mid shifter on. The mid shifter moves about 7-8 inches forward and will use a conventional shift lever. You will have to take the tailshaft housing off to install it. You will need to get anaerobic sealant for reassembly (no gaskets).
I had to call Tremec to find one. They referred me to Diederich's Motorsports 682 365-5555.
People are saying you need a shifter with positive stops. That is not true.
The length of shift throw will be determined by the length of the shift lever (not included with the mid shifter).
Hope this helps you out,
Mark

Second the recommendation for Joe Dietrich if you decide to go to the mid-mount shift point. He is a Premiere Tremec dealer (and local to me).
The switch to a short throw shifter is pretty easy if you have the access. The short throw is due to the length of the shift lever above the fulcrum on the shifter compared to the length below. The mid-mount shift point is a completely different topic.
Most who go to an aftermarket shifter are happy with the change - short throw or not. The aftermarket ones just shift better and feel less sloppy.
Again, I love my MGW. It's not the most popular but I never miss a shift, even at 6000 rpm.
