Soft Top Installation
So, now I'm thinking I would like a soft top. I had one for the last car, but hardly ever used it. So when I ordered this car, I skipped it. Which I probably should not have done.
Anyway, I talked to the local BDR dealer in Denver. He didn't know anyone in the area that could do. He recommended I ship the car back to FL and have them do it.
So now we're talking about close to $5K for a soft top. Not really worth it, IMO.
I installed the last one, and was not overly impressed with the outcome. It was OK, I guess, for the rare times I used it. But certainly not impressive.
Should I try and install this one?
Or is there someone closer that can do a good job for a reasonable price?

Why, they are ineffective to keep out the elements and highly increase the probability of side pipe burns. In addition they look like hell when up. How often are you going to drive in the rain?

I'm at the point in my life where I have more free time. Which means I want to do more traveling; 2-4 day trips. And I'd like to drive to LCS in June. June in the Midwest can be pretty wet.
I rode a motorcycle to Chicago one May. I don't think I've been that cold and wet in a long time.

Bob, they also are a great use when traveling to give you a sun and wind break. Not water proof but allow you to keep driving on that day or area of projected bad weather. I depends on how you use or enjoy your car. After 20,000 miles last summer and 4000 or more in the rain believe me it helps when TRAVELING! Not going for a beer and a burger or a car show. 47 and raining in Ft. Wayne (HRPT) last summer cold and wet but loving it!

I drove a Cobra for a year with a hardtop. Cool in summer (100 degrees) because I was in the shade, no side windows. Warm in the winter.
It made driving a Cobra a better experience. Now it did not look as good with the top but driving was much better.
Coach has had three Cobra and all had soft tops. FFR, Hurricane and now an Unique.
The top he has now is for a FFR but with a little foam strip on the passenger side it fits his Unique. I can't remember who makes them. Not cheap but when you can add four to six months to your driving time it's worth it.
It' heavy duty and you can drive 100 mph with no problem. I don't know the top speed you could drive with this top.
The owner of the hardtop I mentioned as the start of my post tested his. And as he told me "rock solid to 142".
Most of the original style soft top lift at 60 mph. Leak rain and wind.
