Nomex Radiator protector.
After reading the threads that were devoted to what everyone is using to protect their radiators, I went with the Nomex option. I have to say it was a breeze to work with and install. Cuts easily with a razor knife and is flexible. Radiator fan install kit adds to the ease of the installation. If you have a Backdraft, all you have to do to access the back of the radiator is undo the bottom fan bolts and the fan will swing away. I painted it a flat silver using high heat paint.

Why would you put this on the back of the radiator?

I have been using screen from a screen door for years. I use the plastic stuff, not the steel version as it is a lot more flexible. I put it on all my cars so the rocks and salt doesn't beat up the A/C condenser.

Huh???
I hope you are joking with that one. You need to access the back to install the mounting clips.

I too installed the Nomex radiator protector. Build #2145. Also bought it off of Amazon with free shipping. Vintage Motorsports is doing my final build and I had it painted black

Same here. My screen is mounted on a small aluminum perimeter frame that is velcroed to the radiator support structure such that the screen is offset from the radiator cooling fins. Can easily be removed for cleaning and with the black screen and frame, it is very stealthy - can't even see it. Smaller holes on the screen also provides for better protection.

I think the confusion surrounds whether you put the mesh in front of the radiator or behind the radiator.

I see. I would have glued it to the front of the radiator.

Have you noticed any difference in your water temps at cruise or sitting in traffic.
I've always used stainless steel mesh on race cars, Pricy, but it looks excellent. The Nomex looks very nice.

Temperature
I am in NJ and the car will not see the outside for a few weeks yet. There have been other threads where people have stated there was a slight temp increase but nothing drastic. I just finished the oil thermostat so I will probably run it in a day or so.

And what exactly are you protecting the radiator from? I can see if you were running the Baja 1000, but these are just street and track cars. On the other hand, I have pusher fans so that's kind of like a radiator protector.

Kind of protects?
That might be good for you but not for me. I have pushers also but the stones still get through. It's kind of surprising these cars don't come from the manufacturer with radiator protection.

Big stone
Big stone hits your radiator right in the black circle. Bye bye radiator...you don't need to be on the track or Baja for that to happen.

Reminds me of the joke about a guy who asked his friend
how he became so popular with the ladies.
Friend replied, "Easy, before hitting the bars, put a large potato
in your pants. You'll be fighting them off.
Next day friend asks our hero how it went.
His reply was, "No so good. In fact all the women shunned me."
His friend replied, "Next time try putting that potato in the front of your pants."
