Backdraft Shifter Location

Have you guys ever tried using the Tremec center shifter location on a Backdraft to install a stubby small block type shifter? If not,
do you think it would work?

Exactly what I Have in my car. We used a Tremec mid shift shifter on a TKO. We cut the shifter arm off the shifter and welded a steel tab to the top with the same hole layout as a standard Hurst shifter. I then cut the lever down to the height I wanted.

The handle I got from Ecklers in Fla. It is for a 68-76 Vette. It is normally used to represent a stock shifter arm on a Hurst Competition plus shifter. Cost was approximately $90.

If you try here, they have a Pro 5.0 shifter thet they modified for that location on the Tremec. It is made to already receive a standard Hurst Shifter Lever. I think the cost of that shifter is $275. http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/
