im looking to purchace a cobra. either buying or having one made.i seen a backdraft cobra at a local show. it was really nice untill i looked at the way the seats sat in the car---croocked---is this the way they they all backdraft cars come? other replicas dont. this is a buying factor for me. any coments,thanks

The seats are turned because the pedals are offset. I would rather "face" the pedals than turn my body in the seat and put my legs in a bind. I can't remember if the original Cobra's seats were turned or not.

I have a BDR and I thought it might be a problem as well but after just a short time, it feels very comfortable and you don't even notice it any more. I assume it is done this way for leg room purposes. I really wouldn't let that be the deciding factor as far as purchasing a BDR or not is concerned. Overall I'm quite happy with the quality of my car. I have an early chassis and I did have some rear suspension issues all related to spring rates being too soft. I was at Anthem Motors in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago and was telling John (the owner) about my problem and he actually GAVE me 2 sets of replacement springs, each with a different rate. He told me try them and return the ones I didn't use including my old springs. How's that for customer support! I'm the 3rd owner of my car and he had absolutely no real committment to help me out, but he did anyway. Very refreshing! Cudo's to Anthem and Backdraft!

I test-drove two BDR's back in Feb., and as I recall, the seats were straight forward, but my legs were offset about 6-8 degrees to the left to clear the tranny tunnel.

It took me about 15 seconds to adjust to it.

My BDR should be here pretty quick.

If MY driver's seat is offset to handle the tunnel, Boudy will get down on his hands and knees and give me a straightforward stance. Or I will pound sand up his a$$.

Seriously, In less than a minute my legs/reflexes were fine with the offset pedals. I figured out real quick that this was not a '68 Camaro.

BTW I wear size 12 Wides.

I've driven a BDR and didn't notice if the seats were straight or angled. Didn't see it and didn't feel it driving, and had no problems with the pedals.

UT .......... man you STILL waiting ?????

and yes in the originals the seats were angled to the outside because of the tunnel.

Buy a BDR - you will not regret it !!!!

Some of the BDR's I've seen had a lot of angle to the seats. Others seemed normal. My BDR passenger seat was turned a lot. It is no big deal to position them any way you want. I moved both of mine only for looks. They are slightly angled, which is normal in most replicas. Changing them is easy if you know how to use a drill and a couple of wrenches. Trust me, any Kit/Replica you may buy is going to need many small personal adjustments to meet your desires. These cars are not a "one size fits all" kind of car. The BDR is a fine car, and probably the best bang for the buck out there. Good luck in your search and don't let little things decide your major purchase.

All of the seats are slightly angled. It has to be that way so that you are pointing to the pedals. Main reason is the placement of the engine yields a wide tunnel and not much left for foot wells. The only alternatives are:
To stretch the car, as some manufacturers have done.
or
Move the engine forward and cause the car to drive like a boat.
