Default Springs

Does anyone know what model BMW the springs for these BDR's are out of. Mine are getting close to maximum adjustment and I haven't seen any improvement, still bottom out when I have a passenger in the car. Would like to go to the local BMW dealer to get a better set but I'm not sure what to ask for or even what spring rate I need.

Thanks

True007,

If John at Anthem Motors hadn't helped me out, I was going to pull a spring and bring it to a spring shop we occasionally use for our company trucks. I had already spoke with him and he told me he could make about any spring I wanted. For what I understand, the newer springs are around 30 lbs higher rate than the limp noodles you currently have. It's very difficult to see the difference in coil diameter. The height on the new springs looks to be exactly the same as the ones you currently have.
For what I understand, the springs are custom are not directly replaceable with a spring intended for and existing car.
If I were you, I would either have a spring shop measure your spring rate and provide another spring of the same height that has a 30 or 40 lb higher rate or contact Reg and try to aquire a new spring through Backdraft.

The best of luck

Chuck

I believe the springs you need fits 92-95 325i E-36 platform. You might want to consider some performance springs though, since you are having a problem with the stock type springs. Do a search om BMW performance parts on the web. You will find quite a few companies out there that can probaby help your situation by offering their products or information. I have dealt with BIMMERWORLD with pretty good service. They also have pictures of their products online, sort of a online catalog. Have you tried contacting REG at BDR? Sometimes that is hard to do, my springs so far are doing ok, Had to adjust more preload into them since I have got the car roadworthy, trying to do the 400-500 mile shakedown. I have been talking with REG and TONY quite a bit, trying to build a better mousetrap or product, have done alot of research on the BDR cars and their parts, so when I think there is a problem, I talk with REG and TONY along with my ideas and views to fix it or to make it better, faster and stronger sort of like being a guinea pig. Any questions feel free to PM anytime.

By the way, you might want E-mail Tony at the African factory, he is working on set of springs that were suppose to split rate, progressive rate, that might benefit you well.
