Another New Guy……
After much deliberation I have finally jumped in with both feet. Last week I had ordered a Keith Craft all aluminum 427 Windsor, decided on a Backdraft car but couldn’t land on a color. Well……today I left Boudy at Hi-Per Rods a deposit on car #186 – Titanium & Black. I’m going with a black roll bar and black side pipes. Should look pretty nice.
Thanks Boudy for your help and patience while the Cobra fever was doing its black magic; completely taking over my senses.
Don Smith – Thanks for answering a lot of rookie questions.
Lastly, thanks to many of you on this forum. It has been extremely helpful while doing research not to mention entertaining. I may still not know anything about Cobras, but at least now I can spot a topic that will guarantee opening a can of worms a mile a way.

Get ready to drive it. The TCC is a busy group of people !!!!
I've got a video clip here of a Keith Alum 427 and it does sound impressive. You can count the pulses at idle, and it'll chirp the wheels on the shift.

Looks like the engine and car should meet the first part of October. It's going to be a long two months.

Congrats Rod,
Boudy is a great guy and Backdraft makes a nice Cobra. They will both treat you very well. The TCC will keep you pretty busy if you want them to. Look forward to seeing you in Austin in February or in Tulsa next June.
Welcome to the maddness.

Hey LwCwb
It's a 20Mb, 2 minute mpeg clip I took at the local racetrack when the TCC came visiting. Unfortunately it will only zip to 19.1. Mpeg's already have a good compression.
It's 1 of 10 clips I have of Cobras in action from that day. I could send you an email copy, but I don't know if you could receive it. Most ISP's bounce anything over 5.
If anyone would like a copy and can receive it just drop me a note
regards
PS Rod - your colour combo is the one my wife and I had pretty much decided on. Then she saw an Iris Poly Blue and .... back to deciding You'll possibiliy see that blue one - it's a Texas car.

Rod - welcome to group! The TCC always needs more Titunium and Black rides to offset all of those Blue and White ones.

Rod, I'm sure you will forgive me for hating you.
To quote;
"it's going to be a long two months..."
HA!
I put a deposit on BDR #139 in Feb. or March.
Visited my "roller" last week at KeithCraft in Plano.
Engine 75% assembled.
The Ragin Cajun won't return my calls.
Boudy, do you read? (Hint, hint)
Did you spec twin roll bars? If you didn't, your gun rack is gonna look really, really silly.
Seriously, you are going to fall deeply in lust with your BDR, even if you only get to sit in the cockpit of a vehicle with no engine or tranny making "Vroom! Vroom!" noises to yourself.
The KeithCraft guys are very understanding about that.
BTW, my insurance man is pulling his crotch hairs out trying to find me affordable insurance.
He'll come through. He's building a '68 Camaro BB and laughs at me for insisting on a heater.
Best of luck, Dude!

Nice Wild On E video.
UT - I’m going with only one roll bar and will wait until I see how your gun racks first. Maybe I go with Mossy Oak camo stipes and we start another club. Membership might be only two…..?
I will definitely check into the TCC and get involved.

Mike-
Thank you!
Jeez, all 37? (pant, pant)
For a young person (anybody under 30)...
I guess you are OK.
PM me if you want my latest sob story. Applicable to your generation. Sad but true, literally.
Thanks!

Welcome Rod. If you're not careful, you'll wind up as one of those guys with 10,000 post on here. But then, I guess, there's nothing wrong with that.
Congradulations.
Boudy
Todd: Please be patient with me, it's not that I won't call you, I got your message after midnight when I got in. I'm in email most nights about the same time. BTW: I visited your car yesterday and Keith Craft is still working on it. Rob thinks it will be Monday or Tuesday. It seems that nobody is busy till we need stuff.

Where were ya, Boudy?
hey, man we had a nice breakfast group, right in your front yard. Drove past your shop at 7 (a.m.) and 10 (a.m.) and it looked pretty quiet. You shudda made breakfast at the ihop! Hey, new guy, (can't remember your name, right off) we meet the 1st saturday of the month, in various dallas area locations. Today was in Southlake. We go all over, who knows? and you can always show up, all sorts of folks with cars "in build". Had a nice size group today, about 25 +- folks. Didn't count the cobras; maybe 12+? So, we had 2 new guys, one had cobra with him, (Dan) and one building (Tom). Seeya next month!
Kristen
ps. boudy, I keep dragging this pic of you and Jordan on the track at Hallett to all these get togethers! If you show up then you'll get it!

Sorry, I passed by and honked at you guys at about 7:15. I had an appointment at my shop at 8:00. I've been slammed trying to secure contract work back in my career feild and I'm hanging on for breath here lately. I'll get back on top. Promise.
Email me. That way, we don't hijack Rod's Welcome Thread.

Glad to be of service with the questions, lord knows I am still learning alot of things about cobras everyday. Besides rookies are not the ones who ask questions, rookies are the ones who don't. I finally put 400 miles on the car so far, figured it might be sort of broke in by know. For the first time I flogged her with everything she had, launched about 2500 rpm she pulled the rev- limiter (7000) in 1st thru 4th, did not even try 5th. She never got sideways plenty of smoke and noise, spun all the way thru 1st and 2nd, quite a bit in 3rd, some in 4th dude it was awesome. Well enough of my escapades, wait till we here some of yours.
WELCOME
