Default CT Emission Test 3/31/05

Since my 428 Cobra Replica is registered in CT as a 1995 Composite, I'm forced to go through the CT Emissions test.

The last day for the grace period for my 3/1/05 requirement is 3/31/05, and I'm scheduled for my test.

I have no idea what the procedure is to get a waiver after the fact, but I've been advised that a 1966 Ford 428 can't pass a emissions test based on the 1995 standard.

The only emissions equipment on the engine is an automatic choke and a PCV valve. I know I'll be the 1st Cobra passing (should I say failing) through my particular test station.

Also, will the Stabil in the gas tank help or hurt? Any thoughts?

Chuck

Should not be the 1995 standard, it should the the Composite Vehicle Standard which is not given a model year. Unless you have a real stinker it should go through no trouble if you have it tuned properly.

Thanks for your feedback.

Today's the day.

I'm originally from Milford. Lived on Kings Highway in Woodmont from 1964 to 1977.

Arrow adjust

Chuck,
I have tuff emissions here, just about as tuff as California.
With some fine tuning you can get through.
1- set timing to 10* initial, leave vacuum advance line blocked off for test.
2- turn up idle to 1,100 rpm
3- run 87 octane gas, it lights off easier.
after you pass, reset timing,etc.
Good luck,
Perry.

Small world! I lived at 162 King's Hwy for 8 years, 1970 to 1978.

Bob,

I was at 106 Kings Highway, corner of Kings Hwy and Dunbar Road. My mother still lived there until about 1990.

You probably know the house, very large, slate roof, side yard always had many cars in it. Looked like a junk yard.

Have 4 brothers, Russ, Stu, Larry and Richie.

By the way, my emissions test was aborted by the test site when they were unable to convince Agbar that the COBRA was too low to back onto the rollers, was pre-cat, and had no adapter on the fuel fill pipe. The car couldn't be tested.

There are cameras in the test bay to cut the former testing abuse. Since Agbar couldn't tell by their views that the COBRA couldn't be tested, they will be sending an inspector to the test site to see the car. Why couldn't they just exempt me?

PS-
Bob,

Are you still under the 5 year exeption for a new car?

When do plan on taking the SPF out for the 1st cruise of the year? I'll definitely go also.
