Aside from the looks and the fact that I have no experience with other dealers, I was most impressed with the service that I received from Jay and Brian at Vintage. They were amazing. They busted their asses to get the car to me for this past Memorial Day weekend even though Brian was working with pnemonia. I had several parts that had not yet arrived such as the alluminum radiator and my LSD rear end. My chromed knock offs had not ballanced yet but Jay still delivered the car to me with a loaner radiator, rear end and wheels! (Don't worry about the tires Jay. I am not leaving rubber any where. I will wait for my tires to do that) My girl friend and I had a great weekend thanks to you guys. I can not imagine finding better service anywhere! Props to you and Brian!! Thank you much!!
As far as looks, for me it is the view from the rear end with the wide fenders and menacing 315's peeking out from below. Also love the wood grain mota lita steering wheel.
This BDR has made my 20 year wait and dream come true. I couldnt be more impressed with my new car.

Kevin,
Thanks, it was a killer. But we've got a lot more to deliver. I've got everything else coming in for your 500 mile.
Yeah easy on those tires, I may need them myself!

Initial draw was the front stance, it is more aggressive than most. BMW independent suspension was the second reason. Third engine bay shiny parts.
and now that I have it, the best draw is that I own it and it is paid for!!!

I appreciate the fact that BDR understood they weren't duplicating the origional or building a "continuation" car but something unique, and in doing so were free to make the subtle adjustments to the shape, rolls and stance that make a BDR a BDR. the Beemer suspension, seats, engine positioning all make for a great handling "sexy" looking roadster. I had my choice of any make on the market but this little red rocket spoke to me. I'm not saying "mine" is better than "yours" because I'm certain every owner feels the same passion for his or her ride as I do but these are my thoughts on mine.

Steering wheel swap

Watch where your turn signal cancellation pin lines up (you'll see it on the back of the boss) if your lucky your turn signals will continue to cancel, if not you'll just go into manuel mode.

Hey snakebittexan, I'm putting in a Momo "Comando" and I was told by Frank at Backdraft tech. that the steering boss is already drilled for Momo patern (as well as Moto-Lita) so hopefully I can jsut remove the Moto-Lita wheel off the boss and mount the Momo in it's place. No having to pull the boss off or drill at all.
The big concern is about the horn function! Do you have your horn function still operating after your swap? The Momo horn button is WAY smaller than that huge one the Backdraft wheel has.
I guess I'll find out soon as the Momo will be here in a week or so.

For me it's all the things you guys have already pointed out PLUS I have the RT3b "Black Label Special" edition car, which is the most wicked looking cobra I've ever seen anywhere. It shows in no subtle way that Backdraft is not trying to "faithfully copy" anything or anyone but is totally devoted to being a unique world class driver's automobile.
All the blacked out trim where everyone else uses chrome or stainless, those huge 6 piston Wilwoods, and the special interior package is a look that is totally unlike anything else out there. It brings the look into a completely contemporary/modern/radically different erra for a Cobra car and yet maintains the classic lines and styling ques that are so timelessly beautiful and iconic. It just looks totally "in your face mean"!
Do not get me wrong I love the standard RT3 cars just as well and would be just a proud to own one, but fo me it was the "Black Label" special edition that really spoke to me and said "I'm very different, I'm very proud of it, and as such I am the essence and soul of what the Backdraft Racing philosophy is all about". I had to own one.
D.

The first thing I usually notice that identifies a BDR is the way the seats are mounted at a slight angle.

Yeah, the BDR is one bad ass lookin' cobra. Tony got it right. At R&G they do damn good and they look meaner than hell on the track. That Beemer suspension is all business too.
If I was forced into picking the baddest, meanest, and best stance from a 3/4 view then I would have to say the BDR is the winner.
James Yale had a bunch of BDR's at the Texas Cobra Club meet and it was hard to stay away from them. They draw attention.

Donraye, I've had my #198 for a while so apparently BDR has changed the steering wheel set up. As to my horn it's a button to the left of the steering column on the dash. Pull the cap (with fishing line) and give it a shot---good luck!

Yes Steve, That car you see on my profile is another Cobra I've had for some time. It's a ground up build I did from Street Beast/CMC.
My new Backdraft "Black Label" is still in transit to me here in Hawaii from the mainlland. I will have it by the 20th of the month.
You can see one exactly like it at this link:
