Wire loom / conduit Facts
I noticed some of the loom (plastic conduit) for my wiring harness in the engine compartment was melting. I also noticed some was not, yet the loom/conduit was closer to the headers. I found that all loom is not equal. The black loom with the blue stripe down the middle in not only fire resistant but good to 275F where the generic stuff from the store is only good to 200F and not fire resistant. So if you install loom over your wires in your engine compartment get the black loom with the blue stripe. I could not find it locally and ordered it from Del city for $19.00 for a 100 feet. I only needed about 10 but they do not sell it in smaller quantities.
It is amazing that I could not find this stuff locally since I live in Houston. I also removed the butt connectors and soldered all the connections. Three of the five connectors pulled free just removing the conduit!! I assure you they are permanently connected now. Solder and heat shrink is the only way to go!!!
