Door Jamb rattles

Does anyone have a solution for the door rattles. Specifically where the door latches to the door jamb bolt. I use felt around the door jamb bolts but it wears away quickly and makes the door difficult to close. Are they adjustable?

I use 2 or 3 wraps of black electrical tape. It will last a while, depending how often you open and close your doors. The bolt could stand to have a larger diameter though. I had a black cloth tape once that lasted all summer last year with one application, but I haven't been able to find a new roll at the store yet. Wrap the electrical tape so that the door closes a little tight. Then open and close the door 3 or 4 times and it will seat in nicely and stop rattling. It is a quick, easy, cheap fix, so I haven't worried about any other methods. If you find a better way, let me know. I know others have tried weather stripping around the entire door edge, but it just looks bad.

We have one in the shop now that has this rattle. I'll play around with it some tomorrow. You can usually adjust the rattle out.

I had that problem so I removed the latch bolt and added a couple of washers to the bolt forward of the jamb mechanism. Passenger side took a couple of more than the drivers side.

One other thing check your door hinge bolts they may have loosened up some. Mine had.

You just need to adjust the jamb pin in further to the body so it pulls the door tighter against the weatherstrip.

The inner carpeted panel can be pushed in past the nut on the pin so you can loosen it and slide it in more and then retighten.

Same problem here. I tried adjusting the pin but ran out of adjustment. I had to slightly enlongate the hole which helped but the tape on the pin worked best. I also change out the weatherstripping on the door. Each end of the door had 1/8" thick weatherstripping while the sides and bottom had 3/8". I removed this and replaced it with the 3/8" all the way around. This helped snug up the door as well.

I spread a few thin layers of the black rubber coating. You know the stuff you can dip your tool handels in to rubber coat them. I think it is called plasti coat or something like that. Lowe's has it in there spray paint department. I put it on with a model car paint brush and it has stayed on mine so far.

I enlarged the hole 1/16 of an inch 360 degrees around the pin hole. Now the pin is fully adjustable. It takes several tries to get the door to fit snug and it also fully seals the door gasket against leaks from those afternoon Florida showers.

The reason I didn't try adjusting my pin to pull the door in closer is that the door and the body align perfectly flush already. If you draw it in tighter, the door is in to far and you can see this a mile away. It looks like the door doesn't fit. I'm kind of a hood/trunk/door "fit" snob. I hate it when the body panels don't fit flush with the other parts.
The tape is easy and cheap and instant. I don't mind if I have to do it 3 or 4 times a season. The real answer would be for the pin to be machined with a larger diameter to match the catch.
