Default Brake light switch

My mechanic about had a litter of lizards when the brake light sender on #139 failed on the highway and the brakes quit.

Bottomed out.

The sending unit says "Made in Italy."

That's it. That's all we know.

Replaced it with a Delco unit, it blew apart in five stops.

Put my mechanicien in danger yet again.

Reg, anybody, whose brake cylinder is in build #139 and whose brake light switch do I order?

The car is sitting in the local Ford garage waiting for parts, we don't know who to call.

No, calls to Reg hit an answering machine.

This is something simple but we don't have the answers.

I had to replace mine after a little over a year of service, just quit working. I used a Borg Warner part number S551, pretty good quality switch. Hopes this helps, got mine at a local ORIELLY'S.

When you replace the swith do you have to bleed the master cylinder or does it just screw in and out.

Thanks

I just screwed mine out and put new one in no bleeding, leave the cap on and only a few drops of fluid came out.

Thanks DC, mine is still working but I have state inspection comming up and with my luck they will stop working as I pull into the place. In reality though I have not had a problem since I worked the little bugs out.
