Anyone have BDR with harness thru rear wall and not use eye bolts?

This is a great thread for guys with older BDRs and I like what Trueoo7 said about a couple more pitures and what is the attachement unter the trunk floor. Can you guys add a little more to this thread and make it really clear for some us that need a little extra help?

I just uploaded two pictures in to my gallery showing the bezels through the back fire wall. I retained the bracing and made the belts go through them. I used a dremmel to create a slit to match the bezels. I then reused the I bolt in the brace. I cut the carpet out to match the bezels with a razor knife as I didn't want to pull the carpet back. Altogether this took me a couple afternoons. If anyone needs more pictures let me know.

With the belts going through the rear wall how is the angle from the shoulders down the line of the belt going through the wall? To much of a downward angle can impose compression forces in a rapid stop.

I kinda liked the way the belts were anchored on the older BDR's in that they replicated the originals in attaching to the rollbar above the body. Not the most tidy looking, but easy and effective.

I have a couple of questions. On the passenger side, can you take another picture showing the bottom of the two long braces. I'd like to see whereabouts they attach to the floor and do you know if they are drilled through a flat plate or the frame with a nut and bolt. Also the brace on the back firewall, what holds it in place now, is it just the bolts from the bezels? How did you cut the slots in it for the straps, that metal seems pretty thick.

There are a couple new pictures in my gallery. I believe the bolts in the braces do go into the frame. I used the bezels as a pattern to cut the slots. I drilled out the slots with 3 or 4 small holes and then used a dremmel to create the slot. I filed the edges smooth. RodW explains it pretty much how I did mine.

True, the bolts at the bottom of the bracing straps are tapped through the frame. That is where I mounted my eye bolts. I then pulled back my carpet and added another bolt to the center of the bracket. So the 9 total bolts are a 3/8" bolt in the middle and the 4 bolts for the bezels on either side. With the slots centered on the previous location of the eye bolts the height remains the same as before. I also did a lot of filing and sanding to make sure there were no sharp edges. I also just ran a razor knife cut along the widthe of the bezel plates instead of slotting the carpet out the size of the bezel opening. This will aid in keeping the belt from riding on the edges.
