I never noticed just how hot the master cylinder gets, but will check that out soon as weather breaks. Nice job.
I also saw a post about the LED brakes. Can you fill us in on that one?

Shaun,
Nice work. Excellent design and fabrication. Mabybe one suggestion. Round the corners on the engine side of the plate. It might save ripping a wrist or hand open on the corner.
You should make up a few of these and sell them. I would buy one if you don't price them too outrageously.

If your headers were ceramic coated, would you still have the same heat problem?
Also, what about using header tape?

That was a nice piece of work. But those considering their own heat shield should know that most of the heat from the headers is radiant and can be blocked with something as simple as a thin sheet of aluminum as long as there is an air gap between the shield and the item being protected.

I have ceramic coated headers and wraped them with header wrap. It is still to hot, and I cook my brake master cylinder fluid. I seem to have the most trouble when the car sits idleing, without air flow. Jay's shield should work well. I would also be interested in one should they go into production.

Jaybar, I would get that header tape off your pipes. I believe you will ruin the ceramic coating.
I am considering making a stainless steel shroud that would maybe match the surrounding engine compartment. Since it is radiant heat you just need to deflect it. Maintaining an adequate air space where air can move through the space is the most important.
