Default Backdraft with new style slave cylinder

I started using these on the last couple cars that we have built at GCPC. I hope Mike and Greg make some good comments.

Does that assembly fit in the transmission tunnel when you use the rear engine mounting holes with a small block? I found that I had to use a pull-type slave pointing toward the front with the larger diameter of the steel scattershield bellhousing, or there would be clearance problems.

Midnight,
You have an earlier car. Later cars have wider tunnels.

Bill,
Looks like same old slave with a new bracket? Hard to tell on wireless while driving to Hershey... Never found the actual bracket to be a problem...

Our last 5 or so have had this in different dress based on transmission and bellhousing style:

Enjoy!

Jay,

never had much of a problem but never have like the dimension of the the older style bracket. This puts the push rod angle where I want it. I don't have to drill into the bell housing at all. Plus it allows me to install the bleeder up top easier.

I have plenty of slave cylinders if someone needs them. It uses a different a ford pick up slave now.

Bill

Cashburn, I'd be a little worried about the reliability of hydraulic connections with that setup, since the whole slave moves when you depress the clutch. Can't you flip it around and use a longer shaft to hook to the clutch fork?

Most motorcycles use the same braided lines on the brake & clutch, think when the forks move up and down, it's far more movement on the clutch / brake connections at the bars, than the 1 inch or so that the slave moves. I would not be concerned about the connections, or the lines.

Hey guys,

I'm still having serious issues with my slave set up. I am now using Mike Forte's slave Cyl. It fits perfectly but I'm not getting enough throw to fully release the throwout bearing. To get the clutch to work I need the throwout bearing to stay on the springs and it is always spinning. If I back it off so it doesn't touch I can't engage the clutch. I'm on my second throwout bearing. It started to make noise on the way back from London. BTW The clutch is fine. I have a spec stage 3 clutch and aluminum Flywheel. Anybody got an issue like this or have it resolved? Somebody mentioned that a larger master cyl would fix it but I don't want to piss away money on something that may work. Please help with any input or solution. Thank you.

Sid

BTW How big is the Master Cyl that comes with it stock?

Sid,
Have you adjusted the pedal? Have a picture of the master you are running for the clutch?

Sid,

You need to bring the car down, since you have some other issues with the wiring and I can take a better look at them all. We have been using wilwoods master cylinder, but they have changed back to the original master cylinder and we have not had to use the wilwoods any longer.
