Default Front Bumper Hoop for BDR

Been thinking about adding a front bumper hoop to my BDR and was wondering if anyone has had any success fitting one on. What manufacturer did you use and what kinda of modifications, if any were necessary. Any pics would be helpful.
Thanks

Have one on the shelf, have not tried to mount it yet. You can see pictures of a car with it on the new Backdraft Web site, so it can be done.

I never did get a measurement from you on that bumper from edge to edge. Can you still get it?

Car is gone to NJ. The owner "Joe" is on here from time to time. Maybe he will see it and get a measurement. Sorry we never got that for you.

I am a big fan of the rear bumper setup, it adds some protection to the body. Just did a car with the bumperettes and bumper in the rear and no hoop just the bumperettes in the front. I like that combo:

Jay...I agree.....Bumperettes only on front and hoop and bumperettes on back looks the best...

Had the quick-jacks but I recently installed the bumperettes front and back on my car and they greatly improve the overall look.. Will do the rear hoop next spring when I bring the car back from Florida....ox_ford_guy

Chuck,

Go to http://photobucket.com/, and open a free account.

You will then be able to copy pics from your computer to your album there by "uploading" them.

Then you can copy the pic by copying the [IMG]file[IMG] below the pic in your album and pasting it here.

Works for videos too.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!
Dave

You need the url of just the picture, not the whole web page. You can get this by right clicking on the picture and selecting properties. The url of the picture will be there.

just received bumperettes from finishline today. can anyone tell me how they install? I'm not near my car right now to look at. It appears that I need to remove the 2 rods that hold the quick jacks from the car and thread them into the bumperettes and reinstall into the vehicle. Are the threads the same and or do I need to make some brackets for them to fit. Any info would be appreciated.

John,

I recently installed the bumper overiders from Finish line on my BDR. The threads in the overiders are US vrs the metric threads on the quickjacks, so you'll need to replace the allthreads and nuts. I used the same S.S. sleeves that came with the quickjacks and held them in place with nuts & washers inside the car body. I did have a problem at the rear, with no access due to the proximity of the gas tank. I have them installed, but am not real happy with the appearance. I will fix it right when I pull the gas tank to change out the rear gear. Also, the overiders from Finish line are more upright than some I've seen, I'm still trying to decide if I want to do anything about that. The car definitely looks better now, and I don't bang my head on these near as often!

Paul

Paul

Are the sleeves threaded inside or does the allthread slide all the way thru. As for the more upright are you talking about how most tilt outward at the top? I looked at the pics of your car and I think they look good the way they are. Thanks for the info.

John

Thanks for the info

John,

No threads in the sleeves. Yes, some cars have overiders that tip out at the top. I think they look better on the front. But short of bending the allthread, I don't know how to get that appearance with these. Still better than banging one's head on those Quickjacks.
