San Diego 4th of July parade
OK guys, once again it is time to mark your calendar for the 4th of July parade through Scripps Ranch in San Diego.
I would like to see a bunch of Backdrafts again this year. We had 14 Cobras last year and about 1/2 were Backdrafts. Maybe this year we can hit the 20 car limit (set by the parade organizers) and have more than 1/2 Backdrafts!
I'll put the word out on Club Cobra, and SAAC too as we had several cars last year from as far away as San Bernadino!
The parade is a short (about 1 1/2 miles through Scripps Ranch about 10AM on the 4th of July. Start to finish about 2 hours if you get there early. It will finish just in time for an early lunch with your Cobra pals. Very fun to have a bunch of Cobra on this low speed, low pressure event. We can decorate the cars with red, white and blue stuff and just cruise by several thousand local residents. The crowd loves to see Cobras. We were given an award last year as the most impressive car club in the parade. Yep, there are others. A hot rod club, sometimes the Mazda club and others too.
If any of you are interested, please contact me here at this forum or you can e-mail me at: jbrindl1@san.rr.com
Thanks,
Skip B

So. Cal Backdraft owners, please reply. I am getting entries, but only from one other Backdraft owner. We have other brands, including a "real Cobra", but only 2 Backdrafts so far. Sign up soon before all the spots are gone!
Thanks,
Skip B

Just another reminder to contact me for a spot in the parade. It would be very helpful to know that you are coming. I need to let the parade organizers know just how many cars we will have, in advance. Apparently they will stage us by total number of vehicles. 20 is the maximum. Let's get a few more Backdrafts!

I realize I'm the only one on this thread, but I have had several inquiries about parade on the 4th of July. Here are the details.
I still have a few openings for Cobras to be in the parade.
Directions for those of you who asked:
Take I15 to Miramar/Pomerado Road exit and go east on Pomerado Road towards Poway.
Go approximately 3 miles to the 4th stop light and turn left here onto Avenida Magnifica.
Immediately turn left onto Mesa Madera Drive. Follow the road up the hill to the first stop sign.
Turn left at the stop sign onto Red Cedar Drive and start looking for Cobras. We should be staged on on of two streets to your left. We should be on either Red Cedar Lane or Way. I am sure you will find us.
Parade starts at 10AM, be there a little before to get staged and in line. It should be over before noon.
Questions, call Skip at 858-254-7172 or e-mail at jbindl1@san.rr.com

Skip B.
I will try to make it up there on Tuesday morning. Just me and Alan will be making the trip. Wife and child have other plans. Where can I park my SE trailer? At the begining or end of parade route or somewhere else? I will email you also.
See you there,

Hey guys,
Great response so far (not on Club Cobra so much). We have about 15 cars so far, so we may hit 20 by next Tuesday.
Check out this line up: We will have several Backdrafts, a NAF, an FFR or two, a right hand drive from South Africa (brand unknown yet), a "real Cobra CSX number unknown, a Kirkham, and a couple of Superformance including a brand new "Daytona" Coupe with a Roush 427R in it. Come early and check out the cars! Shoud be fun.
Thanks in advance to those of you driving a long distance to participate in this parade. I consider La Canada and Imperial California long distances. Wow!
