Default BDR Engine/Transmission ID

I have BDR354 which I purchased from Reg. I was told that the car had a TKO500 Transmission in it. I was under the car today and noticed that the ID plate on the Tranny said TR3550-11. I thought, darn it! Thats not what I was supposed to have! So I went to the Tremec web sight and looked up the TCET 5008 number that is also listed on the tag. According to Tremec web site, this is a TKO rated at 600ft/lbs and has a 2.87 first gear and .64 5th. Sweet!
Now I have another question. How do I verify the FMS392 crate motor? I also can't find a serial number on it but I do not know where to look? Where can I find the SN and engine assembly number? I want to have these for insurance reasons.
One last item. I noticed one of my CV joint bolts on the rearend had backed out to the point that the CV boot was holding it from becoming road debre. What size are these bolts and can I purchase new ones somewhere? Most of them look like they have seen better days and I don't want to strip them out!

Engine serial # can be found on the passenger side at the front stamped on the block. (Sort of - under the exhaust from cyl #1)
I found the easiest way or reading it was from underneath, or using a small digital camera. put the camera in the location, take a pic, then look at the pic on your computer.

I have a 392 and it has a plate attached (glued?epoxied)onto the block on the drivers side about mid section above the soft plugs I believe. I had to use a paper and flat pencil to make a rub-off of the plate. Did it while the engine was still on the crane.

Great tip with the camera. I stuck my camera under the car with my arm extended and snapped a couple pics. Sure enough, there was an FMS plac under the engine on the passenger side. Even had the production date of 02/23/2006 on it. Thanks for the Tip!
